Chapter 297 - 296: Humans are weird creatures

With Deoxys finally down for the count, the battlefield slowly began to calm.Deoxys lay still, its body no longer moving.

Gladion stood at a short distance, watching carefully. He did not rush forward immediately. He knew how dangerous Deoxys could be even when weakened. Instead, he took a Pokéball from his belt and threw it toward Deoxys.

The red light opened and swallowed Deoxys in a flash. The ball shook once, then twice. Everyone watched in silence.

Then, the shaking stopped.

For a moment, there was stillness.

Gladion stared at the Pokéball without blinking. Then he slowly walked forward and picked it up. He looked at it for a second, then without hesitation, he pressed the button and released Deoxys again.

He had decided to capture Deoxys in pokeball because if Deoxys turns hostile, he could make it return into the pokeball.

A beam of light shot out, and Deoxys reappeared in front of him. It was still unconscious so he waited it to regain its consciousness.

When it woke up, Gladion crossed his arms and looked at it directly.

"So, ready to talk now?" he asked in a calm but firm voice.

Deoxys did not respond immediately. Its glowing eyes shifted slightly as it processed the question. It seemed to hesitate, as if deciding whether communication was even necessary.

Then, finally, it spoke.

"I am not leaving my home," Deoxys said. It sounded more like a firm truth it believed in rather than a refusal meant to challenge Gladion.

Gladion exhaled slowly. He glanced upward for a moment, as if thinking carefully before responding.

"That's just some rock," Gladion said calmly. Then he continued in a more understanding tone. "Yes. It might be your home, but you can make a new home anytime."

Deoxys tilted its head slightly. The idea seemed unfamiliar to it. It had never thought of a "new home." For it, the meteor, the space it came from, was everything it knew. It was not just a place. It was its origin, its memory, its identity.

Gladion softened his voice a little.

"So what do you want to do now?" he asked.

"You know, you can come join my team," Gladion continued. "We would be battling together. I could teach you a few tricks. You might even find that there is more to this world than just fighting alone. We can explore much more than your rock. There is so much more in this world than where you came from."

Gladion then told him stories about the world as well as what it would mean for him if he joins his team.

Deoxys listened carefully. Its eyes moved slightly as it processed every word.

For a moment, it remained silent. Then it answered.

"I like being alone," Deoxys said.

After a short pause, it added something else.

"I want to explore this new world."

Gladion nodded slowly.

'Well worth a try,' he thought.

He did not expect Deoxys to suddenly change its entire nature. He understood that some beings could not be forced into companionship. They had to choose it on their own.

Latios, who had been observing quietly, floated closer. He looked at Deoxys with calm eyes.

Without saying much, he gently used a healing pulse. A soft wave of psychic energy spread from him and touched Deoxys. The energy was warm and soothing.

Deoxys felt its injuries slowly fading. The tension in its body eased. It looked at Latios with slight curiosity but did not speak.

Gladion then stepped forward again, this time more serious.

His tone changed slightly, becoming more firm.

"Listen carefully," he said.

Deoxys focused on him.

"There are things you need to understand about this world," Gladion continued. "You are not just strong. You are far stronger than most Pokémon here. That means people will fear you. Some will try to capture you. Some will try to control you. And some may even try to hurt you."

He paused for a moment to make sure the words sank in.

"You must avoid settlements where humans live unless you know it is safe. Do not let yourself be seen without reason. And most importantly, do not cause unnecessary harm. I am not saying you should never defend yourself. If something attacks you, you have every right to protect yourself. But you must remember that your strength can destroy more than you intend. A single mistake could cause massive destruction."

Deoxys listened carefully. Its expression remained neutral, but its eyes showed that it was processing every warning.

Then, unexpectedly, Gladion walked forward and took the Pokéball he had used earlier.

Deoxys watched him carefully, unsure of what he was about to do.

Without hesitation, Gladion crushed the Pokéball in his hand.

The device broke apart completely.

Deoxys blinked in surprise.

Gladion looked at it and said calmly, "You are free again. Now remember my advice and also remember that their are beings in this world stronger than you or even my team. "

For the first time, Deoxys showed a small shift in emotion. It seemed to understand that Gladion was not trying to trap it or control it and just was giving him good advice.

Then Deoxys spoke again.

"I will give you my rock," it said.

Gladion raised an eyebrow slightly.

Deoxys continued, "You beat me. You can have it." It was acknowledging respect in its own way.

Gladion nodded once.

"Alright," he said. "I'll take it."

Gladion followed Deoxys to the location of the meteor.

When they reached it, he stopped completely. Gladion eyes widened slightly as he took a closer look at the meteor for the first time.

The meteor was not just any rock.

It was massive. Far larger than he had expected. And it was glowing faintly with a strange light.

'The meteor is a fucking made of Moonstone.' Gladion thought

Gladion stared at it in disbelief for a moment.

Then a slow smile formed on his face.

'I just hit the jackpot,' he thought.

Deoxys looked at his home which he would be leaving but before he could think further, something unexpected happened.

The human moved closer to him.

Before Deoxys could react, Gladion hugged him. Deoxys too wrapped its tentacle-like arms around him in a gentle hug.

Deoxys itself seemed slightly confused by what it was doing. It had never really expressed affection in this way before. It was unfamiliar, almost awkward. But it did not stop.

Slowly, Deoxys relaxed. He did not push Gladion away.

Gladion said,"Dude you are my favourite legendary. You just made me fucking richer. Richer than I was before of course."

At that point, Deoxys could only think of one thing.

'Humans are weird creatures.'
