Chapter 375 Victory
Chapter 375 Victory
I raised my voice: "We rely on... those rumors are nothing more than malicious smears by our competitors who can't stand to see us develop. We welcome supervision from all sectors and will let the facts speak for themselves with concrete actions."
After the press conference, the studio's phone rang incessantly, with partners calling to offer their support and potential clients inquiring about collaborations.
Looking at these messages, I tried to calm my excitement and didn't reply immediately. I quickly walked to the window and looked down at the pedestrians coming and going on the street.
At this moment, my phone keeps beeping with notifications. I know they are messages from colleagues in the industry, and I can't wait to see their feedback.
However, it was getting late.
I kept speeding up on the road, and I was in a great mood. I had finally won a battle.
"What are you doing?" I asked, listening to music and looking at the message interface.
"Let's go home, honey, when are you coming back?" Jiang Yichen replied to me in a coquettish tone.
At home, Xiao Huai is still awake.
I pushed open the door, and the warm yellow nightlight illuminated the room. I quietly put down my bag, careful not to wake Xiao Huai.
"Xiao Huai just fell asleep," came the nanny's voice from behind.
"Eeya—"
A soft, sweet voice came from the nursery, and I couldn't help but smile. This little one always seems to wake up precisely when I come home.
I pushed open the nursery door, and there was Xiao Huai lying in his crib, trying hard to prop himself up. When he saw me, he immediately grinned, making "ah ah" sounds, and waved his little hands and feet excitedly.
"Is your baby practicing crawling?" I gently picked him up, and the milky scent emanating from him melted my heart.
Little Huai squirmed in my arms, clutching my collar with his little hands, making babbling sounds. I kissed his chubby little face: "Did you miss Mommy?"
Just then, familiar footsteps sounded behind us. Jiang Yichen tiptoed in and hugged me and Xiao Huai from behind: "I'm back."
Hearing her father's voice, Xiao Huai immediately turned her head and waved her little hand in Jiang Yichen's direction. Jiang Yichen caught her and lifted her high: "Did you miss Daddy today?"
Xiao Huai giggled, drool dripping from the corner of his mouth. I quickly took out a handkerchief to wipe his mouth, but Jiang Yichen had already bent down and kissed him: "Daddy isn't afraid of getting dirty."
I patted her on the shoulder with a laugh: "You."
Jiang Yichen carried Xiao Huai and spun her around the room. Xiao Huai was so happy that she danced with joy. Suddenly, she reached out her little hand and accurately grabbed Jiang Yichen's nose.
"Oh my, our Xiao Huai can grab things now!" Jiang Yichen said with delight.
I leaned closer to look, and Xiao Huai was intently studying her father's nose, pinching and squeezing it with her little hands. Jiang Yichen deliberately made exaggerated expressions, making Xiao Huai giggle.
"How about we test if he can grab toys?" I suggested.
Jiang Yichen placed Xiao Huai on the playmat, and I brought over a colorful rattle. Xiao Huai's eyes were immediately drawn to it, and he struggled to prop himself up, reaching his little hand toward the rattle.
"Go for it, baby!" I whispered encouragingly.
Little Huai stuck out her little bottom and shuffled forward little by little. Although her movements were still clumsy, it was already clear that she wanted to crawl. Finally, her little hand touched the rattle, and she immediately started shaking it happily.
"That's fantastic!" Jiang Yichen excitedly picked up Xiao Huai and kissed him repeatedly on the face. "Our Xiao Huai is going to crawl!"
I leaned on Jiang Yichen's shoulder, looking at Xiao Huai's chubby little face. She was playing with a rattle intently, occasionally looking up at us with a smile, revealing her pink gums.
"Should we film a video?" Jiang Yichen suggested, "so she can show it to him when she grows up."
I nodded and took out my phone. In the video, Jiang Yichen was holding Xiao Huai, and I was nestled beside him. Xiao Huai was between us, as warm and bright as a little sun.
“Come here, baby, look here,” I whispered.
Xiao Huai turned his head, flashed a big smile at the camera, and drool dripped down his face. Jiang Yichen immediately bent down to kiss him, and I quickly pressed the shutter.
After putting Xiao Huai to sleep, I stood at the study door, watching Jiang Yichen's back as he worked at his desk. The lamplight outlined his sharply defined profile; his brows were slightly furrowed, and his fingers were rapidly tapping on the keyboard.
I tiptoed over and placed a cup of hot milk beside him: "Still busy with that land deal?"
He looked up, a faint dark circle under his eyes, but still smiled at me: "Almost there, just one last detail."
I sat down next to him, my gaze sweeping across the documents on the computer screen. It was a detailed land development plan, covering everything from commercial layout to supporting facilities. My eyes suddenly fixed on a corner of the document—it was the logo of Zhao Xing's company.
“This plot of land…” I turned sharply to look at him, “is it the one belonging to Zhao Xing’s company?”
Jiang Yichen paused for a moment, then continued typing as if nothing had happened: "Yes, it's the part we've been discussing for a long time."
My heart skipped a beat. I knew this plot of land all too well; it was located in the heart of the new city district, surrounded by planned subway lines and commercial areas, making it one of the most promising development sites for the next few years. Zhao Xing Company had gone to great lengths to acquire this land.
"You..." My voice trembled slightly, "When did you start preparing?"
Jiang Yichen finally stopped what he was doing, turned around, and took my hand: "It all started when you built your own company."
I was stunned. That was six months ago. I had just mentioned it casually, saying I wanted to find a place to open a studio, one with large floor-to-ceiling windows and a wide view...
"I remember you said you wanted a place where you could see the sunrise and sunset," Jiang Yichen said gently. "This plot of land is located at the highest point in the new district. I had someone calculate the potential, and the top floor of a building there will offer a panoramic view of the entire city."
My eyes suddenly welled up with tears: "So all that work you've done for so long was just for...?"
"It was to surprise you." He reached out and wiped away the tears from the corner of my eyes. "I was originally planning to tell you after all the formalities were completed."
I threw myself into his arms, inhaling the familiar scent of his cologne. This man was always like this, quietly preparing everything for me, never taking credit for it.
"But..." I suddenly remembered something, "Why would Zhao Xing Company agree to the transfer? Didn't they always value this land highly?"
Jiang Yichen chuckled lightly: "I promised to help them solve their cash flow problems and also gave them priority development rights for another project in the new district."
I knew there was more to this than met the eye. Zhao Xing's company has always been difficult to deal with, and Jiang Yichen must have paid a considerable price to get them to back down.
