Chapter 53 I Trust You
Chapter 53 I Trust You
That feeling was fleeting, and Lu Yangyang quickly regained her senses.
She calmly ran her hands over the prince's scarred legs, pressing down on a few spots with a little force, but the prince showed no reaction.
He can't feel it.
Or rather, he lost all feeling from his knee down after the injury.
The only thing he could feel was a persistent, needle-like pain in his kneecap, which gnawed at his nerves day and night, while below his knee was a hollow space.
His gaze was fixed on the distance, his dark pupils devoid of any emotion, yet as deep and unfathomable as an abyss.
Lu Yangyang carefully touched his legs several times before tilting her head back.
“Your Highness…” Lu Yangyang began, somewhat hesitantly.
The Crown Prince snapped out of his reverie, turned to look at Lu Yangyang, and gave her a light smile: "It's alright, go ahead and speak."
It's pretty much a no-brainer to know what the diagnosis is.
After all, he had heard this diagnosis countless times in the past six months, and had probably told himself to give up countless times, but in the end, he still held onto a sliver of hope.
"Below the knee, the leg bones are fractured in multiple places, the tendons and veins are severed, and the nerves are severely damaged. There is almost... almost no chance of recovery." Lu Yangyang's voice grew softer and softer. When she last met the Crown Prince, she had wondered what level of injury would require searching for famous doctors all over the world without success. Only now, having touched it with her own hands, could she be certain.
This is indeed irreversible damage.
She really had no choice, and she didn't know if her aunt could help.
However, the duration of her aunt's lucidity varied. Sometimes she could be lucid for four or five hours a day, but other times, she might not be lucid for even an hour for three or five days, and there was no regularity to it.
So it's probably impossible for my aunt to do it herself, unless she can fully wake up someday.
Even with her aunt's guidance, she probably wouldn't have been able to complete such a difficult surgery.
Yes, my aunt said that for injuries like this, surgery is necessary for any chance of recovery.
Also, she couldn't expose her aunt.
From the time she hid in her aunt's yard when she was a child, her aunt had been mentally unstable. But when she was lucid, her aunt told her that no matter when or to whom she mentioned her, she could only be that crazy woman. No one could ever know that she existed.
Even though she thought the Crown Prince was a good person, she had relied on her aunt for ten years, and she couldn't expose her aunt for the sake of the Crown Prince.
Lu Yangyang felt sad and ashamed.
Seeing her expression, the Crown Prince gently comforted her, saying, "I am already extremely grateful that you came to treat me. You don't need to feel sad for me. I often think about what happened. There are only two possible outcomes: death or surviving half-dead. I can't say which is better, but surviving always gives you some hope."
“Your Highness is right. As long as we are alive, there is always hope.” Lu Yangyang had never met anyone more magnanimous than the Crown Prince. Even though he had a moment of loss and sadness when she looked at his wounds, and wanted to hide his helplessness, he comforted her afterward, saying that there was nothing he could do, and that she didn’t need to be sad for him.
"Although I cannot fully restore Your Highness's health, I can help resolve some of the issues. If she recovers well and receives regular acupuncture to ensure her nerves are not completely destroyed, she might have a chance to recover if she encounters a renowned doctor in the future. The world is vast; there will always be such a day." Lu Yangyang thought to herself that she couldn't possibly achieve 100%, but she could at least do 50%. If her aunt were to regain consciousness one day, perhaps she could achieve 80%. Or perhaps, in this vast world, there are always people more capable than oneself; what if?
Surely someone can do it 100%?
If the injury is left to continue like this, I'm afraid I won't make it to the 100% mark.
As Lu Yangyang was lost in thought, she suddenly felt a tightness on her wrist.
She subconsciously looked down at her wrist and saw a long, slender, fair hand gripping her wrist tightly. She had rolled up her sleeves earlier to make it easier to feel her bones, and now the white sleeves contrasted sharply with her slightly dark skin.
It's better to keep it white.
Lu Yangyang couldn't help but think.
"What did you say?" After a long while, the Crown Prince finally spoke, his voice deep and trembling slightly.
Lu Yangyang felt slightly ashamed that she couldn't do more for him: "Your Highness, I'm sorry, my current abilities are really limited, and I can't do more..."
Lu Yangyang felt quite embarrassed, but then she realized that it was somewhat unbelievable for someone her age to say such things, so she added, "I'm serious. Although I'm not entirely sure, I can try. If Your Highness doesn't believe me..."
"I trust you." The Crown Prince interrupted her, his unfathomable eyes meeting hers.
One is as deep as a still pool, the other as clear as a shallow stream.
They collided so suddenly.
"I trust you." He repeated.
"That's great!" When Lu Yangyang finally realized what was happening, she was afraid that he wouldn't believe her or agree. After all, she was a bit hard to convince people, and most normal people probably wouldn't let her try.
The risk is too great.
But the crown prince didn't ask any further questions, and simply said he believed her.
Lu Yangyang had been trusted so wholeheartedly before, but this was the first time since arriving in the capital that someone had believed in her so firmly. Whether it was at the polo field last time when she said she could cure Su Fengqu, or now, he had not hesitated for a moment, nor had he doubted her at all, and believed her without any hesitation.
This feeling brought Lu Yangyang joy from the bottom of her heart.
"Is there anything I need to prepare?" the prince asked her.
“I have everything I need. I specially asked the best blacksmith in our county to make them, and the county magistrate even helped me with the connection. He admires Your Highness so much. If he knew that I could even come and treat Your Highness, he would be green with envy.” Lu Yangyang was a little smug. Back in their day, the county magistrate was the highest-ranking official.
But who did she meet now? She met the person the county magistrate admired most. If she had the chance in the future, she would go back and tell him, and he would surely be so envious that he would cry.
Lu Yangyang became happier and happier as she thought about it. "I'll go back and get my things first. You...you prepare some food for me. I'm afraid I'll be too hungry to stand later."
The crown prince chuckled: "Alright."
Lu Yangyang got up in a hurry and went out, dragging Yan Yue to climb over the wall.
Yan Yue looked completely confused: "Hey, wait, can't we just go through the main gate? Why do we have to climb over the wall? You said I was climbing over the wall before, and now you want me to take you over. If my cousin finds out, he'll scold me again..."
"Why are you talking so much nonsense? Hurry up!" Lu Yangyang urged, and the two walked away.
Cao Cheng knelt down and helped the Crown Prince put on his shoes and socks, asking worriedly, "Your Highness, is Miss Lu really alright?"
"She is the little girl that Ling Pinzhang mentioned."
