Chapter 182 "If you want the Fourth Prince to like you, you have to change yourself!"
Upon hearing this, Li Yue frowned, her eyes filled with a complex mix of shock and pity. Her lips parted slightly, her voice trembling, "What... are you serious?"
Huan'er was already sobbing uncontrollably, and could only nod and sob.
Sun Lan, who was standing nearby, quickly stepped forward and gently patted Huan'er's back to comfort her. Then she looked at Li Yue and said earnestly, "Yue'er, it's absolutely true. How could your mother lie to you?"
Li Yue felt as if her heart had been struck hard, a surge of surprise, sympathy, and shock washing over her. She quickly reached out and tightly grasped Huan'er's hand, her brow still furrowed, her lips slightly pursed, as she spoke in a gentle yet heart-wrenching voice, "I never imagined you'd have such a fate, it's so pitiful!" She then sighed softly, her brow furrowing even more deeply, as if she were deeply distressed by Huan'er's plight, or perhaps deep in thought. She murmured, "Alright, you stay here and take good care of yourself during your pregnancy. Although our family is truly destitute, don't worry. I'll work harder and earn more money to help you recover properly!"
Upon hearing this, Huan'er's eyes instantly reddened, her heart filled with emotion. She knelt down on the ground with a thud, her voice trembling with tears, "I have no way to repay Miss Li's immense kindness. I only wish to serve you like a slave for the rest of my life to repay your kindness..."
Li Yue hurriedly stepped forward, looking anxious and sincere, and reached out to help Huan'er up, saying as she did so, "Hey, what are you saying! Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda, get up quickly, don't say such formal things."
With Li Yue's help, Huan'er slowly got up, her eyes glistening with tears of gratitude. And so, Huan'er stayed in this home, which, though not wealthy, was full of warmth, and began a new life.
Meanwhile, Su Wan'er returned to the capital with an air of nonchalance. She walked lightly yet arrogantly down the bustling streets, her eyes slightly narrowed, a wicked glint in them, as she strutted forward with an air of haughtiness.
Just then, Xue Xiang walked towards them. Su Wan'er's steps froze instantly, and the arrogance on her face froze for a moment. Their eyes met, as if sparks were colliding in the air.
After a long while, Xue Xiang parted her lips slightly, a faint smile on her face, her voice gentle yet carrying a different meaning, and slowly said, "Long time no see!"
Su Wan'er seemed to snap out of her daze, and her face instantly broke into a smile, though it looked somewhat forced. She bowed slightly and murmured with a smile, "It's been a long time, Miss Xue, uh, no, now I should address you as... Fourth Princess Consort!"
Xue Xiang's lips curled into a meaningful smile. Her beautiful eyes swept over Su Wan'er, her expression calm yet slightly teasing. She said softly, "If it weren't for the packet of medicine you gave me, I really wouldn't have been able to get the Fourth Prince to take responsibility for me. In the end, I have to thank you!"
Su Wan'er's heart skipped a beat, but she maintained her polite smile and quickly replied, "Your Highness is too kind!"
Xue Xiang looked up and sized up Su Wan'er, a barely perceptible glint in her eyes. Then her smile deepened, and she said in a warm tone, "Well then, it's been a long time since we had a proper chat. Let's go up to the teahouse and sit down for a good talk."
Although Su Wan'er was a little uneasy, she dared not show it on her face and nodded repeatedly, saying, "Yes, yes, it is very good that the Princess invites you." As she spoke, she turned slightly to the side, adopting a respectful posture, and waited for Xue Xiang to go first.
Upon hearing this, Su Wan'er's eyes widened instantly, her delicate face filled with astonishment. She leaned forward slightly, her voice unconsciously rising a few decibels as she asked urgently and incredulously, "What! You mean the Fourth Prince didn't drink it! The Fifth Prince did?!"
Su Wan'er's heart was in turmoil as she thought to herself: [No wonder the Fifth Prince acted like he had lost his mind that day; it turns out he had taken that medicine...]
Xue Xiang raised her eyebrows slightly, snorted coldly, and a complex expression of reminiscing about the past appeared on her face. She slowly said, "Hmph, that day we were about to succeed when my cousin suddenly barged in. He was so fast that I didn't even have time to react before he snatched the tea from the Fourth Prince's hand, tilted his head back and drank it all in one gulp. Then, without saying a word, he dragged me out."
Su Wan'er frowned and asked疑惑地问道, "Then what happened...?"
Xue Xiang gave a wicked smile and murmured, "But thankfully, the Fourth Prince arrived in the end, and then..." At this point, a blush rose on Xue Xiang's face, seemingly shy yet with a hint of smugness, and she lowered her voice to continue, "And then... I still ended up with him..."
Su Wan'er's astonishment gradually turned into understanding. She nodded gently and said with emotion, "So that's how it is... What a twist of fate! But in the end, hard work pays off. Fourth Princess, I'll toast you with tea instead of wine. Congratulations on getting your wish."
After saying that, she picked up the tea on the table, raised it slightly towards Xue Xiang, and then tilted her head back to drink the tea in one gulp. Her actions were swift and decisive, yet also carried a hint of flattery.
Seeing Su Wan'er's actions, Xue Xiang smiled with satisfaction. She elegantly picked up her teacup and said, "Thank you, I appreciate your kind words." After speaking, she took a small sip and then drank the tea in one gulp.
Su Wan'er, with her keen perception, immediately noticed the subtle displeasure on Xue Xiang's face. Her eyes darted around, a clever idea flashed in her mind, and she instantly put on a concerned expression. She leaned slightly closer to Xue Xiang and softly asked, "What's wrong? Is something on your mind?"
Upon hearing this, Xue Xiang sighed softly, her brows furrowing instantly, her eyes filled with helplessness and sorrow. She lowered her gaze slightly and murmured, "Although I'm married to the Prince, life here is truly unsatisfactory. He's still so cold to me, he won't even touch me. I really don't know what to do now, alas..."
Su Wan'er feigned surprise, widening her eyes slightly. Her voice held a hint of curiosity and doubt as she pressed, "Oh? The Fourth Prince doesn't want to touch you?"
Xue Xiang's eyebrows shot up immediately. She snorted coldly, her face full of resentment and grievance. She gritted her teeth and said, "Hmph! He's always thinking about that dead Xu Wanwan. There's no place for me in his heart. He doesn't care about me at all!"
Upon hearing this, Su Wan'er also showed a bitter smile of shared misery, shook her head gently, and sighed, "Alas, the Princess and I are truly in the same boat."
Xue Xiang was taken aback, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes. She quickly asked, "You mean... the Ninth Prince's feelings for you..."
Su Wan'er's lips curled into a mocking yet smug smile, a smile tinged with complexity. She gently stroked her belly, a mysterious glint in her eyes, and with a wicked grin, slowly said, "He's been glued to Lin Qianqian every day, he doesn't even see me. And now, Lin Qianqian is pregnant, huh, really..." She paused, her smile deepening as she gently stroked her belly, sighing, "Luckily, I'm pregnant too."
Upon hearing this, Xue Xiang's eyes widened in shock, and she blurted out urgently, "What! You're pregnant too! What's the Ninth Prince's attitude towards you?!"
Su Wan'er curled her lips slightly, her eyes full of disdain, and snorted coldly, saying, "What else can it be? Talking about supporting each other and being sisters, but in reality, she's always clinging to him! Humph!"
Upon hearing this, Xue Xiang lowered her head and fell into deep thought, "!!!"
Su Wan'er, however, paid no attention to her reaction. A wicked and smug smile slowly appeared on her face. The corners of her mouth turned up slightly, and her eyes revealed a mysterious aura as if she controlled everything. She continued, "Miss Xue, if you want the Fourth Prince to truly like you, be willing to touch you, and keep you in his heart, then you'd better change yourself..." As she spoke, that wicked and smug smile became more and more obvious on her face, as if she held some kind of winning magic weapon in her hand.
Upon hearing this, Xue Xiang felt a glimmer of hope and hurriedly asked, "Change yourself? How so?" Her eyes were fixed on Su Wan'er, filled with eagerness and curiosity, and she unconsciously leaned forward.
Seeing this, Su Wan'er's smile deepened. She tilted her head slightly and winked at Xue Xiang, signaling her to come closer.
Xue Xiang quickly did as she was told and put her ear close to Su Wan'er's.
Su Wan'er lowered her voice and whispered something mysteriously at a volume that only the two of them could hear.
As Xue Xiang listened, her eyes widened instantly, as if she had heard something shocking. Her face was full of disbelief as she stared intently at Su Wan'er.
It felt like two little people were fighting inside her. On one hand, she felt that what Su Wan'er said was too shocking and hard to accept; but on the other hand, she really wanted to change the status quo and make the Fourth Prince treat her with affection. So her face was full of struggle and wavering. Her brows were sometimes furrowed and sometimes relaxed, and her lips trembled slightly, as if she wanted to say something, but did not know how to start.
