Chapter 235 Will You Marry Me?
Chapter 235 Will You Marry Me?
Yunxia watched as he poured the soup from the thermos into a porcelain bowl, the steam carrying its aroma wafting over before she softly spoke, "Zhou Chiye."
Zhou Chiye looked up and asked, "What's wrong? Don't you want to drink this?"
Yunxia pursed her lips: "I told my parents that I have a boyfriend."
Zhou Chiye paused, his hand holding the bowl still, and when he looked up, his eyes shone as if they had lost their light: "You mean...me?"
"Actually, I was just trying to appease my parents, but... this child can't be kept a secret anytime sooner or later."
"So, are you willing to marry me?" Yunxia asked, staring at him.
Zhou Chiye almost dropped the porcelain bowl in his hand, spilling a few drops of soup onto the table. He didn't bother to wipe it up, but quickly walked to Yunxia, squatted down, and looked up at her, his voice trembling: "What? Say it again?"
Yunxia repeated, "I'm asking you, are you willing to marry me?"
Zhou Chiye's Adam's apple bobbed. He reached out and grabbed Yunxia's wrist, his fingertips brushing against her skin. His voice was urgent and hoarse: "I'm willing! Of course I'm willing!"
He stared into her eyes, afraid she might change her mind, and added, "Are you serious? You're not just saying you'd marry me to appease your parents, are you? Or are you planning to abandon the child after it's born?"
Yunxia rolled her eyes: "If that's how you think, I think it's fine too."
“No way. Let me tell you, Yunxia, I will never agree to a divorce. Don’t even think about it,” Zhou Chiye said firmly.
Zhou Chiye held her hand tightly, his eyes still shining, and his speech quickened: "In that case, I need to get ready quickly. We'll go pick out a ring tomorrow. Do you prefer a round or square diamond? Or you can design your own if you want. I'll contact a designer right away."
"The most important thing is getting the marriage certificate. We need to prepare all the documents in advance. Oh, and should I go back to your parents' house with you first? That way I can make a gift list, and the bride price and everything else will be there. Oh, and where do you want to settle down for the wedding? And..."
Yunxia sighed helplessly, "Stop, stop, stop! If you keep going like this, it'll make me not want to get married anymore."
"Can we do it one thing at a time? Bring the soup over first."
Zhou Chiye didn't move, still looking up at her, his eyes full of lingering joy: "Then you have to promise me that you're not just saying it casually, in case you change your mind again."
Yunxia: "Okay, I promise you, I'm serious this time."
"But Zhou Chiye, let me make this clear from the start: you can't make our relationship public for now. Also, if you ever do anything to betray me in the future, I will definitely do my best to save my son."
Zhou Chiye gripped her hand even tighter, his joy mixed with a touch of seriousness: "Yunxia, don't worry, I'm completely devoted to you, how could I dare to do anything to betray you?"
He got up and handed her the soup bowl, then helped her tuck the blanket on the sofa around her: "It's fine if we don't make it public, I'll listen to you, we'll tell you when you want to."
Yunxia took the soup bowl, the warmth penetrating the porcelain wall and reaching her palm. She lowered her head and took a sip of the soup, the fresh and mellow flavor spreading, and the restlessness in her heart dissipated considerably.
Zhou Chiye sat next to her, his gaze fixed on her hand holding the soup bowl, a smile playing on his lips. Seeing that she had drunk about half a bowl, he reached out and handed her the corn pancake next to him: "It's still warm from the first purchase. Try it. It doesn't have too much sugar in it."
After Yunxia finished eating, she went back to her room to sleep.
He turned and sat on the living room sofa. His fingertips immediately reached for his phone, found the chat boxes of several married brothers, and quickly typed "What do I need to prepare for a wedding?" in the input field. His fingertips hovered over the send button but then paused.
Suddenly I remembered that Yunxia said she wouldn't make it public for the time being. If it were released, these people would probably keep asking questions for ages.
He pursed his lips, deleted the words he had typed, opened his browser, and typed "wedding checklist" and "what gift to bring when meeting your parents for the first time" into the search bar.
As the page popped up, he quickly swiped the screen, taking screenshots of the important items and saving them to his album. Then he immediately opened his contacts. As soon as the call connected, before he could even suppress the excitement in his voice, he said, "Old Chen, please reserve a time slot for me. I need an engagement ring."
……
"Ayan, I'll feel so empty inside after you leave." Ning Yi leaned against Ji Yan's chest.
Ji Yan hugged her and kissed the top of her head: "I'll miss you too. When I finish filming at the end of the year, your courses will be almost over. How about we spend every day together then?"
Ning Yi snuggled closer to him and said in a muffled voice, "Okay."
Ji Yan let go of her. Seeing her pitiful look, his heart softened. He couldn't bear to leave. He didn't want to work or film. He just wanted to stay and spend time with his little girl.
This separation means we won't see each other for several months.
He patted her head: "Good girl."
Ning Yi forced a smile and said, trying to sound relaxed, "Okay, I won't get sentimental with you anymore. You have to catch a flight soon, so you must take good care of yourself. After my defense, I'll have fewer classes, and if I have the chance, I can visit the film set."
Ji Yan's Adam's apple bobbed, his voice slightly hoarse: "Okay, you too,"
He then bent down and picked up the suitcase from the sofa. The soft sound of the zipper seemed to resonate in both of their hearts.
After Ning Yi saw Ji Yan into the car, she waved to him. Ji Yan looked at that thin figure; that was the luggage he couldn't take with him.
His fingertips gripped the steering wheel tightly until the car slowly started moving.
Ning Yi sniffed. She and Ji Yan had experienced this scene many times before, but each time the sense of disappointment would appear just in time.
It's okay, we can wait a little longer. She can marry him after she graduates. After Ji Yan retires from the entertainment industry in two years, they can have plenty of time to spend together.
