Chapter 123 That Day Will Come
Chapter 123 That Day Will Come
Ning Yi swallowed the medicine in one go, the bitter taste spreading in her mouth, and her whole little face scrunched up.
Ji Yan took a piece of candy out of his pocket, unwrapped it, and personally handed it to Ning Yi.
"Eat a piece of candy, and it won't be so bitter," Ji Yan said.
Ji Yan took Ning Yi's hand and frowned: "Why are your hands still cold?"
Do you have any hand warmers at home?
Ning Yi thought for a moment and then shook her head: "I haven't prepared anything."
"Are your feet cold? Go to bed and cover them up," Ji Yan said again.
Ning Yi replied, "And what about you?"
Ji Yan raised an eyebrow: "You want me to come with you?"
Ning Yi looked away: "I was just worried you were cold too."
Ji Yan slightly raised his lips and patted her head: "I'll go to bed with you for a while."
Then Ji Yan took Ning Yi to the room. He knelt down and thoughtfully helped Ning Yi take off her slippers, then asked her to take off her coat, and then let Ning Yi lie down.
Ji Yan also took off his thick coat and leaned against Ning Yi.
Ji Yan held Ning Yi in his arms and covered her with a blanket.
Ning Yi snuggled closer to him: "I wish every day could be like this."
"That day will come," Ji Yan said softly.
Ning Yi didn't know how she fell asleep. She just leaned against something and got warm, then she got sleepy. Maybe it was because of the medicine she took.
Ji Yan saw that Ning Yi in his arms had fallen asleep, and couldn't help but look down at her.
Perhaps because it was warm, her little face was slightly flushed, making her look really cute.
Ji Yan couldn't help but smile; he could never get tired of looking at Xiao Yi.
He gently helped Ning Yi lean against the pillow, then slowly moved to the edge of the bed, quietly got up, and covered Ning Yi with the blanket again.
He went to the living room, took out his laptop, and sat on the sofa to work.
……
After some time, Ji Yan checked the time and saw it was already ten o'clock. He turned off his computer, got up, and went to the kitchen to cook red date milk sago pudding.
Ningyi goes to bed early, so she probably won't sleep for too long.
After he finished cooking, he kept it warm and then sat back down on the sofa to continue working.
After more than ten minutes, Ning Yi woke up groggily and found that Ji Yan was no longer beside her.
She rubbed her eyes, then sat up, got out of bed, put on her slippers, and went outside.
She left her room and went downstairs, where she saw Ji Yan sitting on the sofa, typing intently on the keyboard.
"Why don't you take a nap?" Ning Yi asked as she came downstairs.
Ji Yan looked over upon hearing the sound, then put the computer aside.
"Are you awake? Are you feeling any better?" Ji Yan asked.
Ning Yi walked over and nodded: "It doesn't feel as bad as before."
Ji Yan said, "That's good."
He then noticed that Ning had come out without a coat, and said, "Where's your coat? Why aren't you wearing one? You still have a cold, are you trying to get cold again?"
After saying that, Ji Yan got up and went to Ning Yi's room to get her a coat. He draped the coat over Ning Yi's shoulders and said, "Would you like something to drink? I made red date milk sago pudding."
Ning Yi's eyes lit up: "Okay!"
Then Ji Yan asked Ning Yi to sit for a while, and then he went to the kitchen.
Ji Yan handed the bowl to Ning Yi.
Ning Yi took the spoon, drank a few sips, and then said, "You're so busy every day, and you also have other work to handle. Can you manage?"
Ji Yan walked over and sat down next to Ning Yi, replying, "It's usually alright, with someone keeping an eye on things for me, but there are always some things I have to do myself."
Ji Yan put away his computer and looked at Ning Yi, saying, "Of course I have to work hard to earn money. If you marry me in the future, you can do whatever you want, whether you want to work or not is entirely up to you."
Ning Yi smiled and said, "That kind of life sounds pretty good, but I think by the time I marry you in the future, I will definitely be successful in my career and have a smooth love life. I will strive to be someone who is worthy to stand shoulder to shoulder with you."
Ji Yan's eyes flickered slightly, then he smiled and said, "Okay, I look forward to that day."
……
Ji Yan went to the film crew and continued to work, while Ning Yi followed her teacher to practice with the classmates who were going to participate in the commercial gala.
Besides her, there was another male violinist at the event, and there were also some students from other majors attending the business gala, about twelve students in total.
"Hello, I'm Xu Jun. We've met before," Xu Jun said to Ning Yi.
Xu Jun is fair-skinned, but not very tall, only about half a head taller than Ning Yi.
Ning Yi tried hard to recall, and realized that he had also won an award for violin performance last time.
Ning Yi politely said, "Hello, I'm Ning Yi, I remember you."
At this moment, other classmates also came over to say hello and introduced themselves to each other.
A teacher specifically explained the basic procedures of the gala to them and what they needed to do. Boss Wen will send someone to connect with them and take them to familiarize themselves with the environment, where they can practice and rehearse on their own.
Afterwards, Boss Wen took them to the party venue.
"The party will be held here in a couple of days, so everyone should get familiar with the environment to avoid any mishaps."
"Don't be nervous or reserved, everyone. You can call me Teacher Wen. If you have any questions, you can ask directly, or you can communicate with your Teacher Zhang. I was once a member of Nanjing University, and naturally I want to see everyone go further and higher," Boss Wen said kindly.
Then Mr. Wen and Teacher Zhang led everyone on a tour of the exhibition center.
"Do you know Teacher Wen's story? It's so inspiring," Fang Wenli whispered to Ning Yi.
Ning Yi nodded: "I've heard them talk about it."
He is 48 years old this year. He came to Nanjing University to teach when he was 24 years old, worked in the education industry for six and a half years, and finally went out to start his own business.
It must be said that he is a positive example. His family was of average means and not very wealthy. He studied hard from a young age and put in several times more effort than others.
Because he was outstanding from a young age, he encountered many people around him who were more exceptional than himself or from better-off families. So, in his seventh year of teaching, he resolutely decided to start his own business.
I heard that he lost money for the first five years of his business. People around him advised him to go back to teaching, since teaching at Nanjing University would ensure his future. Moreover, he was at the age where he should have settled down and started a family, but he put all his thoughts and money into starting a business.
Fortunately, he never gave up, and finally, in the seventh year of his entrepreneurship, his business gradually got back on track.
I heard that after his business started to take off and grow bigger and stronger, he donated to Nanjing University many times, including funding for a building on the university.
