Chapter 229 A Stack of Diaries
Chapter 229 A Stack of Diaries
"Is there nothing on your rule sheet except rules?" Gu Huayang was worried at first, but after hearing Fang Cheng say that there was nothing on her rule sheet except rules, Gu Huayang suddenly seemed to have a breakthrough.
"Your rules don't specify what kind of person you should be, is that what you mean?" Gu Huayang asked.
"Mmm." Fang Cheng didn't understand why Gu Huayang suddenly asked this question, so he just nodded.
“In that case, it’s a good thing,” Gu Huayang said. “It doesn’t require you to maintain a persona, and you will be subject to far fewer restrictions than we have.”
Fang Cheng stopped crying, his eyes red-rimmed. He glanced at Gu Huayang first, then at the people around him.
After seeing everyone around him nod, Fang Cheng sniffed, waiting for what the others would say next.
Chen Yi'an spoke up at this moment, saying, "In that case, there are some things that Fang Cheng may need to finish during the day."
“We’re surrounded by people during the day, and those NPCs watch us when we’re moving around. Once we leave our current positions, based on my experience in the previous worlds, they’ll pounce on us and kill us.”
“Then I think I can help,” Fu Qu said. “I don’t have anyone around me. As long as that male NPC isn’t there, I think I can help Fang Cheng look for him.”
"Don't you need to stay in the school all the time to teach?" Wang Jianhua asked.
“I’ve only seen that NPC at night so far,” Fu Qu thought for a moment and replied, “He probably won’t appear during the day, right?”
"Alright then." Gu Huayang nodded. "You two can talk it over. Fang Cheng, when are you going to pick tea again later?"
“It’s 11:00 to 13:00,” Fang Cheng replied, “There’s still plenty of time.”
"Alright then." Just as Gu Huayang finished speaking, the clock struck eight.
Remembering his responsibilities as the manager, Gu Huayang hurriedly went out. After taking a step or two, Gu Huayang turned back to Fang Cheng and said, "During the day, you are one of the few people who have plenty of time to move around freely. Fang Cheng, do your best to find clues. In short, don't be afraid of anything that happens."
"You're a tea-picking girl without a specific persona. As long as you avoid those places with those signs posted, those people won't do anything to you."
After giving these instructions, Gu Huayang hurriedly left.
Upon hearing the bell, the others hurriedly placed their bowls and chopsticks in the designated spot and went about their own tasks.
Bai Xingyi was just about to leave when someone grabbed her. She turned around and saw that it was Fang Cheng.
"What's wrong?" Bai Xingyi asked.
Fang Cheng leaned close to the white-clad man's ear and whispered, "That old woman with the cat face seems to have some clues we can get."
Cat-faced old woman? Bai Xingyi immediately remembered the old woman with hair on her face who had squatted in front of her and watched her cook when she went to start the fire.
"How do we get it?" Bai Xingyi asked, eager for another clue, as it might mean a greater chance of survival.
“I need to go to the lobby on the third floor where we met first,” Fang Cheng said. “The clue I got yesterday mentioned this. There might be something on the third floor; I’ll bring it to you then.”
"Okay, be careful." After thanking Fang Cheng, Bai Xingyi hurried to the kitchen.
After leaving the players' meeting place, Fang Cheng returned to his own residence, intending to hang a basket on his arm so he could go directly to the tea garden to pick tea without having to take a detour.
Back at the house, when he went to get the basket, Fang Cheng noticed that it seemed to be stuck to something.
Undeterred, Fang Cheng pulled hard twice more, but when he couldn't lift it, he suddenly lifted the basket up.
The basket was lifted, but Fang Cheng himself fell to the ground due to inertia.
Lu Renkui and System WQBYRZM almost fell out of Fangcheng's pocket due to the inertia. They managed to grab on, and then, as Fangcheng got up, they peeked out to see what had stuck the basket to the spot.
Fang Cheng got up and noticed a stack of papers with writing on them where he had put the basket.
Could this be the paper that defines my character? Fang Cheng thought with some worry, then reached out and picked up the stack of papers—maybe there are some clues inside?
Fang Cheng started looking at what was written on those papers.
I am a tea-picking girl, a literate tea-picking girl.
The first sheet of paper only had this written on it. When Fangcheng wanted to see what was written on the remaining sheets, he found that the sheets were all stuck together and could not be separated at all.
Fang Cheng shook the papers, and they seemed to be a single piece without a single seam showing.
Feeling that these papers might contain important details of the entire story, Fang Cheng stuffed them into another pocket.
Then Fang Cheng picked up the basket and planned to go to the third floor of the lobby to take a look.
Along the way, following the hints from the system WQBYRZM and Lu Renkui, the equations also found some rules.
By following the rules, Fang Cheng arrived at the lobby where they had first met without much difficulty.
There were people in the hall. The NPCs stood on both sides of the hall with their hands in their pockets, while the young lady was listening to Gu Huayang, the manager, report on his work.
Seeing one of the bosses in the lobby, Fang Cheng didn't dare to go in and just stood at the entrance waiting. Once the lobby was quiet, Fang Cheng peeked out and saw the young lady walk out. Fang Cheng immediately stepped aside.
After everyone left, Gu Huayang finally looked up and watched the young lady depart.
That young lady seemed very kind, but when Gu Huayang was reporting to her, he always felt that she, Li Yin, was watching him. If he paused for even a second or two, he would feel immense pressure, as if Li Yin was waiting for him to make a mistake so she could find a reason to kill him.
Fortunately, they survived today, and Gu Huayang breathed a sigh of relief. He then let the NPCs go about their own business.
Gu Huayang saw Fang Cheng peeking around at the entrance of the main hall.
Gu Huayang waved to Fang Cheng outside the lobby, indicating that it was now safe.
Fang Cheng carried the basket into the lobby, asked Gu Huayang where the entrance to the upper floor was, and then went upstairs to look for clues.
Going upstairs, it was fine at first, but once we got to the second floor, it was like a completely different scene.
The second floor and the first floor are completely different in style. The second floor is still very dark even during the day, and it doesn't have the bright feeling of the first floor at all.
After peeking down the corridor, Fang Cheng immediately headed for the third floor. Soon, she discovered that the stairwell from the second to the third floor was blocked off.
It can't be said to be sealed off; to be precise, there are several red threads with bells hanging from them, and each bell has a yellow talisman drawn with cinnabar ink on it.
As soon as the equation took a step closer, the bells began to shake violently, scaring the equation away several steps.
The violent shaking of the bell also stirred something, and something suddenly hit Fangcheng on the head.
Fang Cheng closed his eyes, reached out to touch the thing, opened his eyes, and found it was a yellowed piece of paper that had been folded several times.
