Chapter 32 Broken Bridge
Chapter 32 Broken Bridge
Jiang Lin relayed the film crew's orders to her boss. Mo Xizheng gracefully got out of the car. To reach the top, she naturally possessed a top-tier appearance. Having debuted for over a decade and now in her thirties, her floral shirt and light blue jeans still made her look incredibly youthful.
"Walking?" Mo Xizheng rubbed his short, brown-gold hair, frowned, and yawned. It wasn't that he was being delicate, but he had four large suitcases in the car, which was going to kill him.
“We can bring some necessities first. The clothes only need to cover the two days of recording. We can come back to get them if needed later.” Jiang Lin answered while observing the man in front of him closely. He found that the NPCs in the “Tears of the Witch” dungeon were completely different from those in “Snake Fairy.”
Whether it's Mo Xizheng or the other members of the crew around her, their behavior is no different from that of ordinary people in real life.
Mo Xizheng was busy tidying up when Ruan Qing sneaked over. She also had the Death Soul Island mark on her hand, which confirmed Jiang Lin's guess.
"Jiang Lin, Yi Jing said that the larger the dungeon, the higher the difficulty level. Did I choose a bad dungeon? I'm sorry."
Ruan Qing's eyes were slightly red. She had chosen this instance because "Tears of the Witch" felt like a love story to her, and she thought love stories would have a lower horror factor, which was why she chose this instance. But seeing such a large film crew, the girl panicked.
"It's alright, it's not your fault." Jiang Lin smiled gently as always. But as soon as he finished speaking, a cold snort came from behind him.
"Ruan Qing, what are you doing here?" The newcomer was a strikingly beautiful woman in a striking red dress.
Jiang Lin read the system information. Unlike Jiang Lin's identity, Ruan Qing's identity this time was that of a new actress. She played the role of Mo Xizheng's white moonlight who died early in the drama "Lonely City". Originally, according to the order of billing, Ruan Qing was not supposed to be in the lead role, but because she gained many fans with her pure and lovely image in the drama and had a good amount of buzz, the company put her in the role.
The woman in the red dress walking towards them is Xu Enxi, the second female lead in the drama. In the real world, she is barely considered a first-tier actress. In the early days, she was heavily criticized for her outspokenness. In recent years, she has started to market herself as genuine, and her reputation has improved significantly, but she is still infamous. However, she has a good personal relationship with Mo Xizheng.
Seeing that Ruan Qing didn't move, Xu Enxi glared at her and said, "Aren't you going back to pack your things!"
Ruan Qing gave Jiang Lin a wronged look before reluctantly leaving.
Jiang Lin carefully examined Xu Enxi's hand and, after confirming that there was no mark of Death Soul Island, smiled and said, "Sister Xu, are you here to see Brother Mo? Brother Mo is still packing his luggage in the car."
Xu Enxi tossed her hair, her gaze involuntarily drifting to the black van in the distance. "Of course not, I just came out for some fresh air." With that, she strode away with an air of arrogance.
The crew acted quickly; by the time Jiang Lin carried Mo Xizheng's luggage across the bridge, half of the crew were already waiting on the other side.
Mo Xizheng stopped in the middle of the bridge to take pictures. Jiang Lin glanced at the surging river below and had a vague sense of unease. He was about to step forward to warn her.
Before he could finish speaking, a sudden gust of wind swept in, causing the iron chain bridge to shake violently and make a loud noise.
"Watch out!" Jiang Lin's expression changed drastically.
"My luggage!" Mo Xizheng cried out in panic, clutching the iron chain.
“Danger…the chain…breaks…” came the muffled shouts from the bridgehead.
Jiang Lin turned around and saw that the thick wooden beams securing the iron locks behind him had cracked, and the entire iron chain bridge was showing signs of sagging.
Seeing the seriousness of the situation that Mo Xizheng hadn't yet realized, and as she tried to pull her suitcase, Jiang Lin immediately roared, "Forget about it, run!"
"But……"
Jiang Lin didn't give Mo Xizheng a chance to speak, and directly pulled her towards the other side of the bridge. Just as they were about to reach the other side, a loud crash resounded, and the thick wooden beam at the bridgehead snapped completely!
The suspension bridge collapsed, tilting downwards with lightning speed from the bridgehead, and luggage that had not yet been taken away was instantly plunged into the surging waves.
"what!!!"
"Grab him quickly!"
Shouts from the crowd rang out.
In the final moments, Jiang Lin leaped towards the opposite bank with all his might. Ji Xingyi, standing on the edge of the cliff, immediately reached out and caught the young man in his arms. The immense impact sent the two rolling several times on the ground before they were finally out of danger.
Mo Xizheng's physical abilities weren't as good as Jiang Lin's, so he barely managed to reach the edge. Just when Mo Xizheng was despairing and thought his life was over, a hand suddenly grabbed his arm.
Mo Xizheng looked up excitedly, only to see an unexpected face: "Liang Yuan!"
The man dressed entirely in black descended like a god, and the strength emanating from his resolute gaze brought tears to Mo Xizheng's eyes.
Xu Enxi shouted in a panic, "What are you all standing there for! Help me!"
After Mo Xizheng was rescued, Director Wu was so frightened that he broke out in a cold sweat. Shaking his large body, he pushed through the crowd and checked Mo Xizheng's body from head to toe: "My goodness, are you alright? Are you alright!"
Millions of dollars worth of equipment falling down is nothing to Wu Hu, and he doesn't even care about Jiang Lin's life or death. A dead employee can be settled with money. But if anything happens to Mo Xizheng, his life will be ruined!
"Director, I'm fine!" Mo Xizheng was also drenched in sweat. She couldn't help but look at the silent, cold man beside her. They hadn't seen each other for a long time, and she had a lot to say, but what came out of her mouth was a question: "Liang Yuan, what are you doing here?"
The man in black lowered his eyes and remained silent for a moment before stiffly uttering two words: "Tourism."
On the other side, Ding Xuehui rushed towards Jiang Lin and reached out to help the young man up, but froze in mid-air under Ji Xingyi's cold gaze, and finally withdrew her hand awkwardly.
Jiang Lin pretended not to see the interaction between the two and shook her head at Ding Xuehui to indicate that nothing was wrong.
"The bridge is broken, how do we get back?"
"Yeah, there's no signal in places like this overseas. I really want to go home!" A chorus of chatter drifted over, and many people were filled with anxiety.
Director Wu and Producer Song discussed the matter for a while. Their cell phones had no network, but luckily they still had their walkie-talkies. They first notified the staff who hadn't crossed the bridge to find someone nearby to call the police. Director Wu then gathered the people who had already crossed the bridge, and they counted a total of 17 people.
The two took turns speaking to calm everyone down. But before they could say more than a few words, a light drizzle began to fall from the sky, and dark clouds began to drift in.
Song He: "Everyone, don't rush. It's going to rain. Let's take our things to the castle first!"
