Chapter 28 You're Terrifying
Chapter 28 You're Terrifying
This was the third time Wang Weiwen had seen a living person hanged in front of him. His brain was numb, and even his body stopped trembling. He even stepped forward and kicked Zhang Xu'an hard, cursing, "You're the fucking idiot!"
As Lin Zhi watched Zhang Xu'an's body sway in the air due to inertia, she finally broke down and rushed forward, grabbing Wang Weiwen's collar, tearfully demanding, "Why! Why did you vote for 8! Why didn't you believe me!"
"Get out of my way!" Wang Weiwen shoved the girl to the ground with all his might. After straightening his crisp white shirt, he revealed his true colors. Wang Weiwen abandoned his usual kind demeanor and mocked the girl on the ground with a contemptuous look: "You two are the idiots!"
"How could I not know that 9 is a ghost!"
"If I throw out the 9, I'll have to go to Crimson for another night. Who knows if I'll be the one who dies!" Wang Weiwen bent down and patted his chest at Lin Zhi, grinning evilly.
"In that case, we might as well let them win!"
Seeing Lin Zhi completely dumbfounded, Wang Weiwen's smile became even more mocking: "Hey, you haven't noticed yet, have you?"
Let's go back fifteen minutes.
After Lin Zhi and Zhang Xu'an left, Wang Weiwen also fell into deep thought. Although he was not very good at playing games, he felt that No. 4's last words were a bit strange. Including the system notification that No. 4 had been executed, Lü Xiaohu did not show any fear of impending death. Instead, he seemed to feel a sense of relief.
Wang Weiwen became suspicious and tentatively asked, "Number 9, ghost servants can't kill people, so who was the ghost last night?"
Jiang Lin chuckled: "The only suspects are 4 and 9. If it's not him, then who do you think it is?"
The few words left Wang Weiwen stunned. He stared directly at the young man, trying to see through his thoughts, but found that those beautiful eyes were like abysses, as if they could swallow up light.
"You're... self-destructing?" After struggling to process this information, Wang Weiwen could only come to this horrifying conclusion.
Jiang Lin gestured to Ji Xingyi beside him with his eyes: "Number 6 is not the ghost, Number 10 and I are the ghosts."
Wang Weiwen was completely stunned. He had thought that No. 9 would come up with some kind of logic to argue, but he didn't expect the other party to say it so fluently.
Is he crazy, or are these two men in front of him crazy?
Wang Weiwen couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you two afraid...?"
"Afraid you'll go and bang the gong?" Jiang Lin feigned surprise: "Let me think. In this round, the three of you voted me out. Number 10 will have to kill you when the Crimson Night starts. Then the next day, Number 3 and Number 8 will execute Number 10. Right, wouldn't the good guys win? How could I forget?"
Wang Weiwen's expression changed. He wasn't stupid; he naturally understood the hidden meaning in Jiang Lin's words: "What exactly do you want to do?"
“I’ve always thought you were smarter than Number 8, good at assessing situations and biding your time. The winning condition for the possessed is to kill 6 survivors, but there are 7 survivors in the game,” Jiang Lin stepped forward and extended an olive branch to Wang Weiwen: “So I would like to invite you to join us in winning this game!”
As Lin Zhi listened to Wang Weiwen recount the truth, she felt like a rag doll torn apart by a storm, abandoned by the world.
She then realized that she and Zhang Xu'an had made the most basic mistake: they habitually brought themselves into the game and used their gaming experience to play this deadly game.
They ignored people's hearts and belittled human nature.
Lin Zhi: "So you chose to betray us?"
"Betrayal? That's not quite right. We're all just playing a card game, it's just that we drew the same identity." Wang Weiwen shrugged. "But you two, don't act so high and mighty. If you had drawn the Joker, wouldn't you have killed someone? Is it wrong for me to want to live?"
Wang Weiwen didn't care which faction won; all he cared about was 100% survival! What if he helped Zhang Xu'an ally to Jiang Lin, only to be chased and attacked by Scarlet Night No. 10? He didn't have the money to buy the Zhong Kui statue either. Rather than risk allying to No. 9, he might as well just get on the pirate ship once! It would save everyone time!
The rain in the old house grew heavier, and the sound of the rain hitting the black tiles was like a requiem, making people tired and sleepy.
We will all die eventually, either from time or from the human heart.
"Hehe..." Lin Zhi gave a weak, bitter laugh, and slumped to the ground. After a while, she slowly raised her head, her short hair stiffly plastered to her scalp, and her wet face indistinguishable between rain and tears.
The girl stared blankly at Jiang Lin: "You're terrifying..."
At the moment the gong was struck, her thoughts were exactly the same as Zhang Xu'an's. They both felt that they had been blessed by Lady Luck at the end of the game, but they never expected that Lady Luck would abandon them the moment they received their identity cards.
"Kill me, and it will be over..." Lin Zhi closed her eyes in despair.
Jiang Lin's eyes flickered slightly: "Okay."
Crimson light enveloped everything, and the bells seemed to pierce the air.
The girl's mind raced through her short life, and gazing at the beautiful ghost bride before her, she let out her final sigh: "So beautiful, even more beautiful than I imagined..."
Jiang Lin is willing to reduce the suffering of those who face death with equanimity.
The brief crimson night ended, and of the three remaining, Wang Weiwen was the happiest.
"Damn it, I can finally get out of here." Wang Weiwen wiped the rain off his face with his sleeve, loosened two buttons on his shirt, and took a deep breath. "Number 9 and Number 10, how about we go out and add each other as friends, and then do dungeons together in the future?"
Wang Weiwen chose to join the group because he was impressed by Jiang Lin's abilities. The challenges were relentless, and while Zhang Xu'an was still calling him an idiot, Wang Weiwen was already planning how to recruit Jiang Lin after they got out.
"What's the rush? The game isn't over yet."
The young man responded to Wang Weiwen with a meaningful smile.
[System notification: Meeting started.]
The voting process consists of two rounds. The first round is for nomination. Nominated players then proceed to the second round of voting. The player with the most votes in the second round is elected. If the votes are tied, the meeting ends and no one is elected.
The person with the most votes will be executed.
[Nomination countdown begins: 4 minutes 30 seconds.]
Before Wang Weiwen could react, he was shocked by the system notification.
"Why are there still meetings?"
A sudden surge of unease welled up in Wang Weiwen's heart. He looked at Jiang Lin, then at Ji Xingyi. Seeing that neither of them answered, a chill crept up Wang Weiwen's spine. He anxiously looked at the stage, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
"1, 2, 3!"
Hang three of them!
"4, 5, 6, 7!"
There are 4 more on the ground!
That's right!
"There are seven in total! Six good people and one ghost servant. Shouldn't the game be over by now?" Wang Weiwen asked Jiang Lin fearfully, "Number 9, why isn't the game over yet?"
Jiang Lin smiled and said, "It's over after the vote."
