Chapter 91 Versailles, Ning Yao chuckled.
Robert then selected several pieces of jewelry and high heels to match Ning Yao's dress; they were all expensive, unique, and precious.
Ning Yao refused Robert's gift, but Robert pretended not to hear her and simply said in a deep voice, "You need it," before instructing the shop assistant to pack it all up and pay for it.
Finally, Ning Yao changed out of her dress, and the shop assistant folded it up and put it in the gift box.
"I will transfer the full amount of money for these items to Mr. Robert. Thank you for your kindness, I appreciate it." Ning Yao insisted on returning the money for the clothes and jewelry to Robert.
Before Robert could speak, she continued, "I wonder which party Mr. Robert is attending tomorrow?"
Since it's tomorrow, Ning Yao felt it couldn't be a coincidence; perhaps Robert was also attending Mr. Bruce's family party.
As expected, Robert's answer did not disappoint her.
"Since Miss Bella is also going to the banquet, why don't you stay at my manor for another night to avoid any danger?"
Robert's voice lowered slightly in his last sentence, as if he meant something.
"No need, I've already booked a hotel, I'll head over there in a bit." Ning Yao still declined Robert's invitation.
This man may not seem to have any ill intentions towards her now, but that doesn't mean he won't later. It's best to be cautious when you're in a foreign country.
Robert smiled, his eyes deep as he looked at Ning Yao, and said calmly, "Miss Bella, you will agree in ten minutes."
Ten minutes later?
Ning Yao didn't understand Robert's meaning and just thought he was showing off, so she didn't take it to heart at all.
Having received the dress, jewelry, and high heels she had chosen, Ning Yao said goodbye to Gu Wei and walked towards the mall entrance.
But as soon as she reached the entrance, she saw a group of burly men in black uniforms get out of several luxury cars and rush straight toward her.
It was obvious that these people had ill intentions and wanted to arrest her.
Most likely, they were Duke Argyll's men, and Ning Yao unconsciously took two steps back.
There are more than ten people. No matter how good she is at fighting, she can't possibly take on ten people at once. Her chances of winning are too slim.
"Shit!" Ning Yao cursed through gritted teeth, then turned and ran towards Robert's direction.
After running for a while, I happened to see Robert walking out of the store, looking elegant and nonchalant.
Ning Yao ran forward, pushed Robert from the store entrance into the store, and asked in a low voice, "Did you know someone was coming to cause trouble? Were those thugs at the door Duke Argyll's men? Were they looking for you or me?"
Robert looked down at the gritting-teeth little fox with interest, his thin lips slightly parted, and he said with a sly smile, "Isn't it you, Miss Bella, who has a grudge against Miss Clarisse? These thugs are obviously after you."
Ning Yao gritted her teeth, so angry she wanted to punch Robert right there and then.
He's the one who caused the trouble, but now she's being made to take the blame!
But then she thought about it again, and Clarice did indeed intend to hurt her. Robert had saved her, and the trouble started because of her, so she really had to suffer.
“Miss Bella, I’d be happy to be your safe haven. So, do you now agree to move into my estate?” Robert spoke with an imposing air, his deep voice accompanied by his handsome face, exuding an air of confident composure.
Robert had anticipated everything, which is why he waited for her arrival in the store.
Ning Yao let out a heavy sigh, listlessly loosened her grip on Robert's suit, and nodded helplessly.
Did she have any other choice? Without Robert's help, she probably wouldn't have been able to leave this shopping mall today.
Robert reached out and ruffled Ning Yao's hair, his smile almost impossible to hide.
Ning Yao was stunned by the other person's practiced head-patting gesture.
She gave Robert a deep look, as if trying to see through his handsome face to understand what he was thinking.
Robert then snapped his fingers, and soon someone appeared and led them into the VIP room inside the store.
The clerk deftly put on white gloves and, as Robert had instructed, brought out two bottles of fine wine.
"Take a break, have some drinks to calm your nerves," Robert said to Ning Yao.
Ning Yao is knowledgeable about wine. Looking at the label on the bottle, her voice betrayed her surprise.
The desserts on the table were all made by Michelin-starred pastry chefs from Country Y. Even VIP customers of luxury goods should not enjoy such preferential treatment, since these things are too expensive, even exceeding the value of the goods in the store.
"How come this shop serves such good wine, and so many desserts..."
Seeing Ning Yao's puzzled look, Robert leaned back on the sofa, raised an eyebrow, and explained, "This store is one of my properties."
Ning Yao awkwardly tugged at the corners of her mouth, and almost blurted out, "Hehe, you're awesome."
Ning Yao got into Robert's car and successfully avoided the menacing thugs, returning to the manor.
Returning to that fairytale-like manor, Ning Yao's sense of unreality vanished completely.
"Mr. Robert, could you please give me your bank account number? I'll transfer the money for these clothes and jewelry to you immediately." Ning Yao wanted to sever ties with Robert and didn't want to accept his gifts anymore.
“Women can repay a man’s gifts in many ways; money is not the best way.” Robert stared at Ning Yao with his deep blue eyes, a clear smile in them. His words sounded like a joke, yet also like he was serious.
“Mr. Robert, I really want to return the money for those gifts. Please give me your account number.” Ning Yao frowned slightly, emphasizing her tone. Her clear, bright eyes sparkled, radiating youthful energy.
Yet, those beautiful eyes concealed a hint of calculation and languor, brimming with the cunning glint of a little fox.
Ning Yao's figure was reflected in Robert's blue eyes, and Robert made no attempt to hide his interest, staring intently at Ning Yao.
"Either don't pay it back, or pay it back the way I want. Miss Bella, you're a smart woman, you should understand what I mean."
Ning Yao pursed her lips and remained silent. She wasn't stupid; surely she understood the underlying meaning in Robert's words?
"It's almost dinner time, Miss Bella, what would you like to eat?"
Seeing that Ning Yao didn't speak, Robert raised his wrist, moved the watch face with his fingertips, and glanced at the blued steel Breguet hands inside.
His fingers were beautiful, long, fair, and with well-defined knuckles. Coupled with the limited-edition European retro watch, Robert exuded an elegant and noble young master's temperament, which was truly pleasing to the eye.
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do." Ning Yao knew that Robert wasn't going to give her a chance to repay the money, so she immediately shut her mouth.
