Chapter 9 Forced to Work
Chapter 9 Forced to Work
You seem really bored lately.
A black Porsche, like a work of art, sped along the highway, and Gin, unusually, was not smoking inside.
Upon hearing these words, Bai Yexiu immediately felt a bad premonition. His boss had said something similar to him before, after which he immediately received a freshly compiled list of assassinations from the organization.
"Where am I bored? Where did you hear that?" Bai Yexiu took out the lollipop he had in his mouth.
"If you're not bored, why did you hitch a ride with me to the ramen shop?" Gin bluntly exposed his lie.
"I was just hungry," Bai Yexiu said stubbornly, his eyes darting around. But thinking about it carefully, he realized that he probably went to the ramen shop to eat ramen because he was too bored.
Gin thought about it carefully and realized that he hadn't given him any missions recently, except for the middleman who had swallowed the organization's weapons that Jundo had interrogated yesterday.
Thinking about it, he flipped through today's task list and saw the mission he had assigned to a codenamed member to carry out that day at a video game company—
A list of top programmers.
Since Jundu is so free that he goes to a ramen shop, giving him this task as a supervisor is a good choice, since that list is quite important.
He instructed Cointreau to keep an eye on Tequila and the others from the shadows, in case anything went wrong with the deal.
"Time to work, Cointreau."
"what?!"
Bai Yexiu was so startled that he dropped his lollipop. Gin had suddenly told him to go to work!
Gin glanced at the lollipop that had fallen under the seat, a hint of heartache in his eyes.
My car...
Gin quickly recovered and explained the mission to Byakuya.
In short, the plan is to have Bai Yexiu supervise Tequila to ensure they can eventually obtain the list. In addition, due to Bai Yexiu's special identity, Gin specifically instructed him not to let Bai Yexiu reveal his code name.
If only I had known beforehand that the price of hitchhiking would be a job...
—I won't hitch a ride with you.
Bai Yexiu was reluctantly taken to the video game company and forced to work there.
Camilla, who was wrapped around Bai Yeshu's wrist, was a little restless, seemingly because she hadn't eaten enough for lunch.
"Be good, I'll take you out for ramen tonight." After Bai Yexiu said this softly, Camilla, who had been a little restless, immediately quieted down.
Bai Yexiu walked into the arcade and felt a strange sense of familiarity about the scene. He glanced at his watch and realized there was still half an hour before the transaction time, which reassured him. He then relaxed and started slacking off.
This kind of supervisory task is the perfect opportunity to slack off. In Gin's eyes, it's supervision; in Byakuya's eyes, it's just slacking off. Anyway, the person who made that deal with Nakajima something is Tequila—what does that have to do with me, Jundu?
Seeing the long queue in the lobby, Bai Yexiu joined it. Just as he got off the bus, Gin gave him an empty suitcase. He had a vague feeling that this number plate might be very useful later.
After a moment, Bai Yexiu narrowed his eyes as he looked at the number 72 in his hand. He had a tattoo on his body that had been etched at some point, and the number 72 was tattooed on it.
As far back as he can remember, the number "72" has been engraved on his chest, but he has never been able to recall the origin of this "72".
Bai Yexiu looked up and saw the fake child.
This time, the fake child came with an older man and a high school girl. Bai Yexiu sized up the older man, who looked like he had a hangover, and remembered that he was the famous detective Kogoro Mouri that he had recently seen in the newspaper.
For some reason, every time Bai Yexiu sees this newspaper, a picture appears in his mind: Conan holds a watch-shaped tranquilizer dart and injects it into the back of Kogoro Mouri's neck. After Kogoro falls down, Conan uses the red bow tie on his clothes to imitate Kogoro Mouri's voice to deduce the truth.
Bai Yexiu really wanted to verify if this strange scene was real, but even if it was, he wouldn't be too surprised. And then, his opportunity arrived.
"Eh? What's Ryuzawa-nii-san doing here too?" Conan noticed Bai Yexiu leaning against a pillar and asked, which made the high school girl next to him look at Bai Yexiu curiously as well.
"It's Conan, what a coincidence."
Bai Yexiu pretended to be delighted, patted Conan's head, and casually put the number tag into his pocket with his other hand.
"Conan, what is this...?" the high school girl next to Conan asked quietly.
Bai Yexiu turned to look at her, and suddenly all the information about this high school girl popped into his mind.
"His name is Ryuzawa Iroha, he's an older brother I know!" Conan explained innocently.
"Big sister, it's nice to meet you." Bai Yexiu said gently, with a clean and pure smile on his face. He looked like a very innocent middle school student.
"Hello, Ryuzawa-kun, my name is Ran Mouri." Ran Mouri replied politely immediately.
"You guys should hurry up and join the queue," Bai Yexiu said kindly, glancing at the line.
“Mr. Mori,” a man patted Kogoro Mori on the shoulder and pointed to himself, “I am Hideaki Nakajima of Mantendo, and I was the one who planned the mystery of the famous detective Kogoro Mori’s mansion.”
As Bai Yeshu watched from the sidelines, a long plot suddenly popped into his mind.
It seems that mysterious special ability has been activated again, but this special ability seems to require an activation point.
Bai Yexiu seemed to be deep in thought, but soon he received a piece of information: Tequila would be inexplicably involved in a murder case and then be blown up.
Sorting through the plot in his mind, Bai Yexiu couldn't help but feel sorry for Agave. To be honest, he didn't know how to save Agave either. The key to saving Agave was the number tag, and his memory of the number tag in the plot was very vague.
After some deliberation, Bai Yexiu had determined how to obtain the list. As for Tequila, he would try to save her if he could, otherwise the organization would lose a bottle of genuine liquor.
When he came to his senses, Bai Yexiu saw the familiar trio of people who had cut in line there, introducing the logo of Mantang and their president's ideas to Kogoro Mouri.
Good grief, now everyone knows it was someone from your company who cut in line.
Bai Yexiu made a light comment and looked at Tequila's trading partner: Hideaki Nakajima. If Tequila died in the end, then this person would have to be silenced. If this person wasn't silenced, Gin would probably cause trouble for him again.
And that ringleader, surnamed Takeshita, just the fact that he "manslaughtered a member of the organization" is enough for Gin to kill him personally.
Afterwards, Bai Yexiu followed Conan and his group to the company's arcade, and things unfolded exactly as Bai Yexiu had imagined.
Soon, Bai Yexiu waited for the moment to exchange number plates. He took out a small syringe from the pocket of his trench coat and, just as Nakajima was about to hand the coat to Takeshita, he went behind him and secretly pricked Takeshita's thigh with the syringe.
"Ouch!" Takeshita suddenly cried out in pain and took a few steps back. Nakajima, holding his coat, was at a loss. He had originally intended to hand it to Takeshita to hold for him.
Seeing the astonished expressions on the faces of those around him, Takeshita smiled awkwardly and said, "I don't know why my thigh suddenly hurt a little, I think it was a cramp, sorry."
The people around him laughed and didn't take it seriously.
Seeing that no one was looking at him anymore, Takeshita looked around and found that there was no one around him.
Did I really have a cramp just now?
Takeshita touched the spot that had just hurt, still feeling a lingering fear.
Bai Yexiu, who had moved aside, breathed a sigh of relief. He wasn't sure if this would work; Takeshita hadn't received Nakajima's jacket, so he couldn't change his number tag.
Okay, I've done all I can to help. Now I can relax and slack off.
Bai Yexiu happily stroked Conan's head. He seems to have developed a habit of stroking Conan's head and giving it a good pat when Conan is around.
"Conan is still so adorable today, it's almost too cute to handle!"
Bai Yexiu also took the opportunity to annoy Conan.
What is this guy saying?
Conan dodged Bai Yexiu's hand and looked at him warily, afraid that he might do something terrible. Although he hadn't done anything terrible so far, Conan still remembered what Bai Yexiu said that night.
Only Conan heard what Bai Yexiu said, and then the following scene unfolded:
A smiling boy and a wary little boy stared at each other.
"Conan, you can't look at Ryuzawa-kun like that. By the way, Conan, do you want to give it a try?"
Conan snapped out of his daze and looked at the number 400 displayed on the screen of the boxing machine, breaking out in a cold sweat.
"No, let Longze do it. I need to go to the restroom." Conan decisively passed the buck to Bai Yexiu.
Really.
Bai Yexiu glanced at Conan as he left. He didn't want to reveal his fighting prowess in front of so many people he knew.
After politely rejecting Ran Mouri, Hakuya secretly followed Conan and Nakajima, who was traveling with Conan.
