Chapter 35 Dreams
Chapter 35 Dreams
In the blink of an eye, the group had been living here for a month.
In the past month, Yahiko and his two companions have grown at an astonishing rate.
From ordinary people who couldn't even refine their chakra at the beginning, to now being able to skillfully use basic ninjutsu for sparring, their talent is top-notch even in Konoha.
Especially Nagato, after mastering chakra refinement, his Rinnegan's ability to adapt to all attributes of ninjutsu was so astonishing that even Jiraiya, one of the Legendary Sannin, was terrified. It's no wonder that it's the eyes of the Sage of Six Paths.
Yes, when Jiraiya first saw this child, he already suspected that this kid was the chosen one that the Great Toad Sage had spoken of.
After all, those legendary eyes are extremely rare.
It was dusk that day.
After the training session, everyone sat around the campfire, roasting the fish they had just caught.
"Jiraiya-sensei, when will we be as strong as you?"
Yahiko took a bite of the grilled fish, his mouth dripping with oil, and asked.
A flame called ambition burned in his eyes, a precocious desire unique to children who had endured the ravages of war.
"As strong as me?" Jiraiya laughed heartily. "Then you'll have to train for another ten or eight years! But, after you become stronger, what do you want to do?"
"I want to change this country!"
Yahiko suddenly stood up, his voice echoing in the empty cave, "I will become the god of this world! If I am strong enough, I can stop all wars in all countries, ensure everyone has enough to eat, and prevent anyone from shedding tears again!"
Konan and Nagato looked at Yahiko with eyes full of admiration.
In their hearts, Yahiko is the light, the hope that leads them out of the darkness.
"A truly great dream." Jiraiya nodded with satisfaction. He hadn't misjudged this kid; he was indeed kind.
However, an untimely voice shattered this passion.
"So, what's the specific plan?"
Nishikawa Tetsu, who had been quietly recording data, suddenly spoke up.
He looked at Yahiko, his eyes devoid of mockery, only displaying a kind of intimidating rationality.
"You say you want all countries to stop wars, but on what basis? By your own power? Or by the god you speak of?"
Yahiko was stunned.
He clearly hadn't thought about such profound questions. In his naive worldview, as long as he became stronger and defeated the bad guys, the world would become a better place.
"As long as... as long as everyone understands each other..." Yahiko said somewhat hesitantly, "as long as they feel the same pain, they will understand the value of peace."
"Mutual understanding? Sharing pain?"
Nishikawa Tetsu shook his head; it was indeed the same old story.
He bluntly poured cold water on the idea: "That's too naive. The competition between major powers is based on interests and geopolitics, not feelings. Your so-called mutual understanding is worthless in the face of interests."
"Furthermore, if you want to intimidate the world with pain, what's the difference between you and Hanzo? You'll only become the next tyrant, eventually overthrown by a new hero."
Yahiko blushed, wanting to refute but unable to find the words.
Minato Namikaze, standing nearby, tugged at Tetsu's sleeve with some concern: "Tetsu, don't be too harsh on him..."
"No, Minato, you're still too kind-hearted. If you don't face reality, his dream will only kill him and the people around him."
Nishikawa Tetsu stood up and walked to the cave wall.
He picked up a piece of charcoal and drew a simple ninja map on the wall.
"Look at this picture."
Nishikawa Toru pointed to the Land of Rain in the center of the map.
"The Land of Rain is situated between three great powers, which is both a disadvantage and an advantage. The disadvantage is that it is prone to becoming a battlefield and buffer zone for the great powers, while the advantage is... that it is a transportation hub."
Yahiko and the other two were drawn over, and even Jiraiya couldn't help but sit up straight.
"If you want to change a country, force alone is not enough. What you need is—organization, a program, and an economic foundation."
Nishikawa Toru drew several circles around the Land of Rain:
"Hanzo is strong, but his thinking is somewhat outdated. He may still be open to new things now, but what about when he gets old?"
"And you, since you want peace, cannot follow his old path."
"Then... what should we do?" Yahiko asked instinctively.
Nishikawa Tetsu turned around, looked at the three future core members of Akatsuki, and slowly uttered a theory that had never been heard of in this world:
"Step 1: Encircle the cities from the countryside."
"What?" Everyone was stunned.
"Hanzo controls the entire Amegakure, which is heavily guarded. Going there now would be suicide. But in other parts of the Land of Rain, there are countless war orphans and refugees like you."
Nishikawa Tetsu's eyes sharpened:
"These people abandoned by Hanzo are your strongest foundation. Unite them, give them food, protect them, and teach them ninjutsu. Establish small bases and slowly erode Hanzo's control."
"The second step: establish a united front."
"Don't treat all the major powers as enemies. The Rain Kingdom needs to recuperate and rebuild. Utilize your geographical advantages to develop transportation, engage in trade, and even sell intelligence or hire mercenaries to the major powers in exchange for funds and resources. With money, you can support an army and carry out construction."
"Step 3: Seize power by force."
Nishikawa Tetsu pointed the charcoal heavily at the location of "Amegakure":
"When your organization is large enough, when Hanzo realizes that his orders can no longer leave the village... that's when you launch your final offensive and take over."
The cave was deathly silent.
Everyone was stunned by this intricately linked and logically sound strategy.
This is no longer the childish "I want to be a god," but a practical and feasible blueprint.
Yahiko stared wide-eyed at the picture on the wall, his previously blurry dream suddenly becoming incredibly clear.
"The countryside...encircling the cities..." he murmured to himself, as if he had opened the door to a new world.
Nagato looked at Nishikawa Tetsu, a strange light flashing in his Rinnegan eyes.
For the first time, he felt that besides Yahiko's passion, there was another power in this world called wisdom, which was equally awe-inspiring.
Jiraiya took a deep breath, his gaze towards Nishikawa Tetsu becoming extremely complex.
"Che... what on earth is going on in your head, kid?" Jiraiya said with a wry smile. "This theory is unheard of, yet it's thought-provoking."
He hadn't thought much of it when Fugaku first mentioned it, but now he was truly impressed by the kid. He had such wisdom at such a young age; what would he be like in the future?
"It's just standing on the shoulders of giants."
Nishikawa Tetsu threw away the charcoal and patted the dust off his hands.
He looked at Yahiko, his expression softening somewhat:
"Yahiko, dreams are good. But to achieve them, you need this methodology. And..."
He looked at Nagato and Konan:
"You need to protect your comrades. Before your organization grows stronger, the most important thing is to be patient and prudent... I mean, to be patient and forbearing."
"I see!"
Yahiko bowed deeply to Nishikawa Tetsu, his eyes filled with gratitude and determination. "Thank you, Tetsu! I know what to do!"
"We... will try our best," Xiao Nan said softly.
Seeing the rekindled, more rational flame of hope in the eyes of these three children, Nishikawa Tetsu secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Although it couldn't completely change the fate of the Akatsuki, at least... it planted a seed of rationality in them.
Hopefully, this seed will blossom into something different before the tragedy of Payne strikes in the future.
"Alright! Now that we have a goal, let's double the training tomorrow!"
Jiraiya waved his hand dismissively, "To realize your ideals, you must first have the power!"
"Yes, teacher!"
The flickering campfire illuminated the hopeful faces of the boys.
Deep inside the cave, Nishikawa Tetsu looked at the map, but was pondering something else.
Now that the theoretical foundation for the Akatsuki is in place, the next step... shouldn't we provide the organization with some start-up funding and a technology tree?
After all, a revolution that only has ideals but no bread is unlikely to last.
