Chapter 280: Fighting to the End (5)
Chapter 280: Fighting to the End (5)
Harrisonburg is geographically closer to Washington, and a wave of zombies that have broken away from Washington has already appeared outside the town.
Zombies can be seen wandering everywhere in the fields, woods, and on both sides of the road leading to the town.
The density of the zombie swarm is very low, but the figures of the walking dead are everywhere.
The Shandingzhai convoy stopped on the road. The zombies on both sides of the road had noticed the convoy's presence and were slowly gathering around it.
Rick stood in the back car, using a telescope to check the situation in the town. Some zombies were wandering at the entrance of the town, blocking the convoy's way forward.
Sean took out the map, pointed at it with his hand, and said to Rick with sweat on his forehead, "The army will come in from the road south of the town. We are now in the north of the town."
In other words, the Shandingzhai convoy was closer to the route of the sea of corpses, and they were sandwiched between the army and the sea of corpses.
"Do you want to take a detour?" Sean asked.
Rick shook his head, looked around and said, "The road conditions on the field paths are even worse. If there are zombies blocking the road, the bodies and dirt pits will cause the convoy to break down."
"What should we do now?" Sean noticed that some of the residents of the Hilltop Village who went out with him were already showing signs of panic.
Jesus stood up and looked around. The countless zombies made his scalp tingle.
"What else can we do! Let's go back! We only have so many people, how can we interfere in what's going on here!" Jesus said to Sean.
Rick frowned and immediately rejected Jesus' opinion: "No! We must fight! Leave a retreat route, we will attract all the zombies to us, so that the army can enter the town more easily after arriving from the south."
"Shit, this is crazy. We'll be doomed if we're surrounded." Jesus argued. He didn't want to put his friends in a desperate situation.
Rick glanced at the vehicles behind him. His son Carl was with a group of graduates. He turned his head and motioned Jesus to look at Carl and the others: "If a group of children can do it, why can't we do it?"
"What?" Jesus was incredulous.
Rick didn't explain too much, and after Carl came back, he talked to his son about the details of their trip.
Alan's brilliant command made the graduates able to face the zombies with ease. Now, the weapons of the team members are better than Alan's at that time, so why can't they contain the zombies for a while?
"You need faith, and so do the people of the Hilltop Village. Listen carefully to my orders and let these corrupt guys see the power of civilization!"
Rick said, looking Jesus in the eyes.
"Carl! Have your juniors clear out the zombies closest to the road! All machine gunners! Wait until the zombies behind the zombie tide gather before opening fire!"
Rick finally gave the order: "We have to fight here! Lure out all the zombies in this town!"
The residents of Hilltop were in disbelief. Did Rick still decide to fight the zombies in the middle of the zombie tide? This was hard for them to accept.
The adults were slow to respond to the order, but a group of underage graduates responded to Rick's instructions immediately:
"Yes!!"
Carl led a group of boys and girls to adjust the position of the vehicle, then jumped out of the car and shot at the fields on both sides of the road!
The surrounding field of vision is wide, so there is no need to worry about zombies entering the blind spot. Jumping out of the car and keeping the same height as the zombies can improve shooting efficiency.
Bang bang bang! !
There were gunshots coming from the rear of the convoy. Seeing that the people at the front hadn't made any move, Sean couldn't help but yell, "What are you waiting for! Are you worse than a bunch of kids?"
Seeing that everyone was still indifferent and looked reluctant, Sean jumped out of the car angrily. Ignoring the zombies approaching outside the road, he walked to the pickup trucks, kicked up the body of the truck, and loudly mocked the adults inside.
"You're just standing there watching? Don't you know how to pull the trigger with your finger? Is your index finger used to play happy beans with your wife?"
"Hey! Those women! That's right, hold up your guns! Shoot! Fuck, you are much braver than your men, they are not worthy of you!"
Bang bang bang bang! ! !
Gunshots finally rang out from the entire convoy. Sean walked on the road, took out his pistol, and shot a zombie that was approaching him in the head.
Rick stood on the pickup truck at the front of the team with a gratified smile on his face. He used his eyes to express his appreciation to Sean who was walking back leisurely from under the truck.
Sean climbed onto the pickup truck from the back of the vehicle, grabbed an RPG launcher, and aimed at the group of zombies towards the town entrance.
"Men!! Show your courage!!"
Sean made a final demonstration, in which he fired the RPG rocket with a red face and thick neck.
Chi——! Boom!!!
A large ball of fire exploded at the entrance of the town a hundred meters away. All the zombies gathered around were blown to pieces, and their body parts were thrown high into the sky.
There was a passionate leader in the team, and the morale immediately rose several times. The others followed suit, roaring at the zombies while unleashing their firepower.
"You bastards! Go to hell!"
"You owe me this!!"
"Just talk to the insurance company!"
There seemed to be some strange words mixed in, but Sean and Rick didn't pay any attention.
The two men carefully observed the tide of zombies around them, and once a zombie got too close to the road, they immediately ordered everyone to shoot it first.
The zombies on the field gradually gathered together and their density increased.
Seeing this, Rick ordered the machine gunners to open fire and began to efficiently shoot at the tide of zombies!
Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta————!!
The metal-interwoven rain of bullets instantly knocked down a large number of zombies, and the encirclement pressure faced by the entire convoy dropped sharply.
The bodies of zombies exploded and fell, their rotten heads were grazed by stray bullets, and the fields on both sides of the road were piled up into a barrier of corpses.
Soon, the zombies moving behind were blocked by the corpses of the same kind in front, and began to split up and walk to both sides of the pile of corpses.
Rick observed this scene while standing on a pickup truck. He noticed that where the zombies separated and then gathered again, the two groups of zombies came together to form a large group of zombies, and the density of the zombies became a little higher.
But this is not a bad thing. Rick only needs to let the machine gunner adjust the shooting direction to efficiently clear out the new group of zombies.
The machine guns kept firing, and their accuracy was a bit scary. Except for the graduates, the other vehicles were operated by the indigenous people of the mountaintop village. Few of them had received military training.
As a result, although more and more zombies fell on the fields, the number of piles of corpses in each area was very irregular, with piles of corpses everywhere in the fields.
After a while, under the continuous machine gun fire from the convoy, Rick was surprised to find that the tide of zombies was actually closer to the road!
"Fuck! Use the launcher to blow up those piles of corpses! They are using the piles of corpses as cover to approach us!!"
Rick watched the zombies coming out from behind the piles of corpses. These zombies fell down only when they reached the front of the zombie tide, and finally piled up layer by layer to form a new pile of corpses for the zombies behind to hide!
