Chapter 6 A chance encounter
Chapter 6 A chance encounter
That day, Yunxi, dressed in a light blue dress, led Xiangling slowly out of the mansion. The street was bustling with people, shoulder to shoulder, and it was extremely lively.
"Miss, it's really lively today." The little girl Xiangling's eyes rolled around, and she was as excited as a happy little rabbit, looking left and right non-stop.
Yunxi smiled slightly, and that smile was like a spring breeze, "Yes, let's go for a good stroll." After saying that, she moved lightly with lotus steps.
The master and servant walked slowly along the street, and Yunxi's bright eyes were suddenly attracted by an exquisite purse on a small stall.
"Xiangling, look at how beautifully embroidered this purse is." Yunxi reached out and picked up the purse, turning it over and over to examine it carefully, her face full of admiration.
Just then, there was a noise coming from not far away.
"Get out of the way! Get out of the way!" Several big men with fat faces shouted at the top of their lungs and waved their strong arms to drive away the crowd.
Yunxi and Xiangling were suddenly pushed aside by the surging crowd. Xiangling turned pale with fear and clutched Yunxi's sleeve tightly, her body trembling.
"What's going on?" Xiangling's voice trembled and her face showed fear.
Yunxi frowned slightly, staring at the big men with a pair of eyes, "Let's take a look first."
I saw a carriage galloping past, a corner of the curtain was blown up by the wind, and it seemed that there was a person lying inside.
The carriage creaked to a stop at the entrance of the alley ahead, and the burly men hurriedly carried a bloody man off the carriage.
The man's clothes were stained with blood so badly that his original color couldn't be seen. It looked really scary.
"Who is this?" a skinny old man in the crowd stretched his neck and asked.
"Looking at the situation, I'm afraid he's from a powerful background." A woman in coarse clothes pulled the child beside her back.
The people around were talking at once.
Yunxi was just passing by, but her instinct as a doctor made her step forward. She was wearing a light blue dress and her hair was tied up in a simple bun. Although not gorgeous, it exuded a clean and neat look.
"Stop! Don't come any closer!" A big man with a face full of flesh stretched out his strong arms to stop her.
The big man stared at me with eyes as big as copper bells and a fierce look on his face.
Yunxi raised her head slightly and said calmly, "I'm a doctor. Maybe I can save him."
The big man looked her up and down, curled his lips, and said with disdain: "Just you? A little girl?"
Yunxi stared at the big man with a determined look and raised her voice: "How do you know if you don't try?
My master is a famous doctor in the capital, and I have learned a lot from him."
At this time, another slightly thinner man came over and said, "Forget it, let her see that if anything happens to the prince, we will all lose our heads."
Yunxi then realized that the seriously injured man in front of her was actually the prince of the current dynasty. She calmed herself down and quickly walked to the prince's side.
His face was as pale as paper, his eyes were closed tightly, and his brows were tightly furrowed, as if he was enduring great pain.
The wound was still oozing blood, staining a small area of the ground beneath him red.
Yunxi bit her lip, reached out her hand to gently check the prince's breath, then felt his pulse, her expression becoming more and more solemn.
"Hurry, carry him into the house." Yunxi turned and shouted to the big men.
The big men didn't dare to delay and lifted the prince up and walked into the house. But one of them accidentally stumbled and almost threw the prince out.
Yunxi stamped her feet in anger: "Be careful! If something goes wrong, can you afford it?"
After finally reaching the house, Yunxi asked the big man to lay the prince flat on the bed. She quickly undressed the prince and checked his wound.
The wound was so deep that the bone could almost be seen, and the surrounding flesh was turned inside out, which was unbearable to look at.
Fine beads of sweat appeared on Yunxi's forehead. While she asked the big man to prepare hot water and clean cloth, she took out some herbs from her medicine box.
"Hurry up!" Yunxi's voice was a little anxious.
The big men were intimidated by her aura and hurriedly did as she instructed.
Yunxi took a deep breath and began to clean the prince's wound. Every movement was done carefully, for fear of hurting him.
Everyone on the side didn't dare to breathe, their eyes fixed on Yunxi's every move.
Everyone carried the prince into a room deep in the alley.
Yunxi asked Xiangling to fetch some clean water and took out the medicine box she carried with her.
Her brows were furrowed, her face serious as she carefully cut open the prince's clothes. The wound was hideous, with flesh turned inside out and blood all over the place, making people shudder at the sight.
"Go get some clean cloths." Yunxi turned and shouted at Xiangling, with a hint of urgency in her voice.
Xiangling didn't dare to delay and ran away. After a while, she came back panting, "Miss, the cloth is here."
Yunxi took the cloth and stared at the wound, not daring to breathe. Her hands trembled slightly, but her movements were extremely skilled, as if she had done this job countless times.
Beads of sweat dripped down her forehead, and she didn't even bother to wipe them off.
"Miss, please wipe your sweat." Xiangling was anxious watching from the side.
Yunxi bit her lip and shook her head, "Don't make trouble, Xiangling."
After a long while, Yunxi finally breathed a sigh of relief, and her tense body relaxed a little.
"The bleeding has stopped temporarily, but we still need to observe." Her voice was tired.
Those burly men were so anxious that they kept rubbing their hands, their eyes wide open, staring at the prince.
"Miss, will the prince be okay?" A big man with a stubble on his face came up to Yunxi, his face full of anxiety, and his voice trembling.
Yunxi glanced at him and said, "As long as the wound doesn't get infected, he should be able to pull through."
As soon as he finished speaking, the prince slowly opened his eyes. His eyes were a little confused at first, and he looked around in a daze, and finally his gaze fixed on Yunxi.
"It was you who saved me?" the prince asked weakly, his voice feeble.
Yunxi quickly bowed and replied respectfully, "Your Highness, I am only trying my best to help you."
The prince pulled the corner of his mouth with effort, "You, a woman, are quite courageous."
Yunxi said, "Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda. I dare not take credit for it."
The prince smiled faintly. Although the smile was weak, it could not hide his innate nobility. "What is your name?"
"My daughter, Yunxi, is a concubine of the Marquis's mansion," Yunxi replied respectfully, bowing her head slightly. She was dressed in plain clothes, and her eyes and eyebrows exuded a gentleness. Although she wore no makeup, she possessed a natural beauty.
The prince nodded, his gaze lingering on Yunxi for a moment, "Yunxi, I will remember this."
At this moment, Xiangling came forward, her face flushed with anxiety, and said, "Miss, it's getting late. We should go back home."
Xiangling opened her round eyes and anxiously tugged at Yunxi's sleeve.
Yunxi said, "Your Highness, I'll take my leave first." She bowed and turned to leave.
The prince said, "Thank you for saving me, young lady. I will definitely reward you handsomely in the future."
Yunxi waved her hand quickly and said, "Your Highness, you are too kind. This is what I should do." After that, she hurriedly left the house with Xiangling.
On the way back to the Marquis's Mansion, Xiangling followed Yunxi's footsteps and chirped, "Miss, I didn't expect that we saved the prince today."
Yunxi sighed softly and said calmly, "It's just a coincidence. I just hope that His Majesty can recover soon."
Xiangling blinked her eyes and said, "Miss, if the prince really wants to reward us handsomely, what should we do?"
Yunxi stopped and glared at Xiangling, "Don't talk nonsense. Saving people shouldn't be for any reward."
Xiangling stuck out her tongue and dared not say anything more.
Yunxi remained silent along the way, but her steps became faster.
After returning to the Marquis' Mansion, neither Yunxi nor Xiangling mentioned the matter.
