Chapter 583: It’s about time he gets a new one.
Chapter 583: It’s about time he gets a new one.
"Igni."
Kael called out, his eyes still stuck on that beautiful creature in his hand, but his tone was now different—
"What did you do?
Who is she?"
For a while, Igni did not say anything.
Then—
"She is what brother told you, a Celestial Lifehart."
Cirri, still in her Sky Form, answered.
"But her healing powers aren’t the strongest."
"What...?"
Kael couldn’t believe it. Normally, he would have frowned right now, but the longer he stared at the little thing in his hand, the more... at a loss for expressions he felt. It was as if he had forgotten how to frown.
But of course, this didn’t mean he lost his reasoning.
"Igni, you lied...?"
He asked.
The Dragon looked away, but then—
"Brother did not lie. Everything he said was true, Celestial Lifeharts were indeed living miracles, beings who could stop battles if they appeared because the wounded wouldn’t perish as long as they were there.
They could heal almost any wound, no matter how grave, and there were rumors about them being able to bring the dead back to life if a few conditions were met."
"Then...?"
Kael was now even more confused.
"But this wasn’t considered the strongest in the Ancient World."
"This wasn’t...?"
This time, even the little creature’s mysterious spell didn’t work and Kael finally managed to move his head away, looking around with a confused, shocked look on his face.
"There were beings with even stronger healing powers, they actually could bring the dead back to life."
Cirri answered.
"Bring the dead back to life...?"
Kael blinked, in an instant, the images of his visions appeared in his mind, dead Igni, dead Lavinia—
Everything.
And his heart shook.
"Why didn’t you tell me that before!?"
He asked, glaring at Igni.
But then—
"Paa~"
A ridiculously soft voice was heard. Kael once again turned toward his new daughter and... once again felt lost in her big emerald eyes. His shaking heart calmed in an instant, almost as if nothing had happened.
Kael didn’t even realize what was happening to him, he still wanted an answer from Igni, but all those nightmarish images in his mind had completely disappeared.
And Igni, knowing what state his father was in, answered.
"Because you need her more than you need those beasts."
"What do you mean...?"
Kael asked.
"A Celestial Lifehart may not have the strongest healing abilities but... as you are right now, healing is not what you need.
Your body regenerates on its own."
"I do not want it for myself—"
"I know that, Father."
Igni nodded.
"And I am not saying Celestial Lifeharts cannot heal others or that their healing powers are weak, they are far, far stronger than any beast you can find in this world when it comes to healing powers.
The only reason I wanted you to take her was because Celestial Lifeharts have another, far more important ability."
"What is it?"
Kael asked.
"Ability to ease one’s soul."
"Huh...?"
Kael frowned and the Primordial Fire Dragon continued—
"A Celestial Lifehart can heal souls. It can calm the mind, it can heal trauma, strong sadness, and erase crippling thoughts.
A deeply wounded man would feel life is still livable if he is in a Lifehart’s presence. Of course, he still wouldn’t forget everything that happened to him, Celestial Lifeharts cannot control minds, but they can make it so the thoughts that hurt so much that life itself looks heavier feel... bearable.
And you..."
Igni’s voice lowered for a moment as he stared at his father.
"You need that, Father.
More than healing powers."
"I consider my life very livable, I have no plans of dying anytime soon."
Kael answered, once again turning to his firstborn.
"I know that."
Igni nodded.
"And I know the reason for that as well."
The dragon spoke with a meaningful look on his face.
"I have been with you ever since you came to this world, Father. I understand you well and I may not show it, but I know what’s going on in your mind."
Silence.
Silence fell over the place when Igni said those words. Kael’s children looked at him, even the newborn Celestial Lifehart was no different.
Kael looked at all of them, then he looked at Igni again. The Dragon looked back and Kael—
He closed his eyes and—
"Alright."
He nodded.
"Thank you, Igni."
He spoke in a low voice before turning toward the newborn in his arms and looking at her again.
Her beautiful white fur, her big emerald eyes, the beautiful pair of branching horns that grew from her head, these weren’t normal antlers, they looked like living vines made of light, thin emerald strands twisting and curling upward. Tiny golden leaves grew along them, and the vines moved slowly and naturally, swaying and curling as if they were alive and breathing with the forest itself.
When she tilted her head, her antlers shifted with it, their glowing leaves rustling softly in the air.
Her hooves were made of translucent crystal, glowing with faint green life energy.
She was small, gentle and... seemingly fragile.
A creature so beautiful it was hard to believe she truly existed.
*Picture*
Kael smiled at her, then he glanced at Igni and—
"Do you have a name for your sibling?"
He asked and the Dragon nodded his head readily.
"Eiralyth.
We will call her Eira."
Hearing that, Kael turned toward the little thing who was still in his arms and—
"Do you like that?"
He asked with a smile. Little Eira looked at her brother who named her, then she looked at her other siblings, Imperia who was inside Kael’s pocket, Nyrri who was standing on the side, then at Vitaria, who was grinning at her as if she was planning a prank.
Cirri materialized as well, wanting to say hi to her youngest sister. She hovered in front of her and—
"Remember, I was the first daughter, okay?"
Cirri made it very clear.
Eira, on the other hand, just tilted her head, confused. She looked so adorable that even Cirri—
"But you can hug Father as much as you want."
Cirri melted.
"Y-You can hug me too."
She spoke. Eira smiled at her and—
"Yes!"
She spoke in her same adorable, excited voice and Cirri felt her heart racing so quickly that she couldn’t believe it.
She literally backed off, as if trying to protect herself.
"Heh, look at her. Primordial Sky Dragon, they say. Backing off in front of a child."
Cirri didn’t react, she knew replying to Vitaria would only make her angrier, she had fallen for this too many times.
But this was Vitaria, escaping her wasn’t possible.
"You didn’t act like this when you first saw me."
The fox spoke with a pout.
"You weren’t adorable like she is."
Cirri answered in an instant.
"I was adorable!"
The fox raised her voice.
"Not as much as her."
Cirri spoke but this time, the fox grinned.
"So you are saying I was adorable. Aww~ I did not know you thought of me that way."
"I never said that!"
Cirri raised her voice.
"You just did. ’Not as much as her’ meaning I was adorable, just not as much as Eira is. I also remember you calling me adorable before."
"That never happened."
Cirri was sure.
"Oh?"
Vita, however, flicked her tail and suddenly another Cirri materialized in the air and—
"My Vita is so adorable, I can’t help but think about patting her soft fur~~"
She spoke in a high-pitched voice and when the real Cirri saw it, her mouth twitched with anger.
"You little—"
The Dragon tried to chase after her, the fox tried to run but—
Slap
Imperia, who had at some point jumped on Vitaria’s head, slapped her.
"Stop teasing your elder sister."
She spoke in a strict voice.
Then the ant looked at Cirri and—
"Sister, you too.
You shouldn’t be in this form for too long, someone can approach us at any moment, you need to keep an eye.
Don’t forget, we aren’t seeing anything because we are at the very center of the Shrouded Wilds and the sky is covered by the Sky Kingdom, but the rest of the world is different.
Right at this moment, they are not seeing the same sky they usually do, and this time, people are wide awake.
So be careful."
Imperia warned in a grim tone and she—
She was correct.
All around Nerathis, the people were looking at the sky with shocked, amazed, awed looks on their faces, because the sky wasn’t normal.
It was completely white, with a shade of green that represented life itself. It was... unnatural and many people began inferring different meanings from it.
Some believed this was a sort of hint from Lord Feraos himself, some believed this was the end of the world, some said that this seemed like a new beginning.
Some thought this was the time to save trees, others began hunting for nature-type beasts, thinking that this meant that these beasts now held special significance.
It was varied.
Almost every person had a different reaction when they saw the sky and only a select few knew what it actually meant.
And one of those select few was currently looking at the sky right now with a light smile on her face.
"It’s about time he gets a new one."
It was Veylara Stormhold.
