Chapter 462 - 462: First Earthly Calamity: Part One
Fang Yuan fed Rank 6 Ambition Gu a bead of Grape Green Immortal Essence. It spat out a large number of mortal Ambition Gu, which he then placed on Yellow Treasure Heaven.Fang Yuan began selling these batches of Ambition Gu. As he had expected, the response had become somewhat lukewarm by this time. Anyone who really wanted them had already purchased them, and now that it had become somewhat clear that Fang Yuan was not going to suddenly stop production, no one was too worried about supply running out.
Many people had tried to dive into and reverse-refine the recipe for Ambition Gu, yet none had succeeded. Given that there were no other sellers on Yellow Treasure Heaven, Fang Yuan was satisfied that this business, for the time being, would be quite useful as a monopoly. At the very least it paid for his other experiments.
But Fang Yuan was not just creating Ambition Gu for the purpose of selling on Yellow Treasure Heaven this time. He had gained insight into the Human Path after digesting that block of Truthful Floating Ice. Although there were many projects that he could focus his attention on, with the upcoming earthly calamity, he could only think of one which was truly worth his attention.
Human Path Gu worms began spinning around him as he began constructing this new killer move.

"Finally," Wang Tian said, breathing out in relief after three days of secluded cultivation, during which he had only taken time out to eat and go to the bathroom. He had finally managed to break through the crystal walls of his aperture! His aperture was now filled with a pale red primeval essence.
He had advanced to Rank 2 Initial Stage.
Despite how harshly those horse-riding people had treated him, he had to admit that the information they had given him on being able to break through the walls of his aperture was quite useful. Now that he had advanced to Rank 2, he could use Rank 2 Gu worms; the wild gu worms outside no longer seemed so dangerous.
As for the gu worm that he had refined, it still seemed to be sickly, barely hanging on to life.
"Are you hungry?" Wang Tian asked, feeling slightly sorry for the gu worm in question. He took it out of his aperture and glanced at it. It did look weak and also hungry; the problem was that he had no clue what its food was.
Gathering Gu had been quite useful in that regard, as it didn't require anything special to feed other than Human Qi. Since he had no idea what this gu worm was or did, he couldn't even try to find some hint from that aspect regarding what its food was. Thinking about it didn't give him any answers, so he could only sigh and resign himself to the fact that he was probably going to end up losing this gu worm to starvation.
"But if that's the case," he said, "I just need to find more gu worms. If I can find some which are good offensively and some which are good for running, I won't be in that situation again. Yes! I should try building a set of Rank 2 gu worms now!"
With that thought in mind, he carefully crept out of his cave. The sun was just about to go down, so most people would not be hunting and instead would be resting. This was the perfect time for him to try to go around and see if he could find the aura of a gu worm.
He looked around, but found very little despite searching for a few hours. But then he suddenly he heard something. Placing his head to the ground, he heard the sound of what seemed like hooves. Immediately, Wang Tian became alarmed. Even if this was just a wild herd of animals, it could still signal the fact that the horse-riding men had followed him this far.
His cave was too far away for him to make it back in time, and so he simply found a small crevice to hide in. To his relief, the outlines of what he saw in the dark were not horses, but seemed to be reindeer. He had never seen one himself, but had heard stories of them living on the continent. Their antlers cast shadows; voices emanated from them, indicating the presence of people.
Wang Tian estimated that they may have numbered around four or five people and about a dozen reindeer. They passed by him very quickly, though he waited for ten minutes before making his move. During this time, another set of footsteps joined the sound of the reindeer, coming from behind them.
Wang Tian glanced to see a solitary figure, a person who seemed to be out of breath, but was chasing behind the reindeer in question. However, the person who was in hot pursuit tripped over something and fell into a shallow gorge which had been made by the recent issues that the Fang Yuan Continent had.
The person cried out in pain. It looked like they were trapped and had no way to get out.
'Oh well, it's nothing to me,' Wang Tian thought and simply turned around and went back to his cave, going to sleep for the night. He had not found another gu worm as of yet, but he could always try the next day.
The next day he woke up, and while exploring, he heard the cries of someone. It was from the same place that he had left yesterday, and he went back there. Now that the sun was streaming through the sky, he could see who the person was. They seemed to be young, about his age, and were armed with nothing other than a bow and quiver, which they had left behind some distance away. No, it was more accurate to say that they had been dropped when the person fell.
They really were trapped down in the gorge, with more than half of their body being stuck there. One of their arms reached protruded out and reached for an instrument which might be able to help them, but they were unable to grab onto it.
The boy in question continued crying out for help and then began screaming, screaming for someone to save him. Then the boy began crying, cursing his luck, and even calling out for his parents.
Wang Tian watched him, even as the sun turned towards noon and was about to set below the horizon. A part of him wanted to go out and help the boy; another part of him told him that it was going to be very dangerous and to leave things alone. Yet every time that he turned around to walk away, he couldn't help but hear the boy's pained cry once more.
Once the boy was no longer shouting angrily but instead crying, Wang Tian's heart found that it could hold on no further, and so he stepped down, yelling out, "Stop moving, I'll come and try to help you."
The shouting stopped.
