Chapter 2130 - 2131: Green Ripple Sect
Chapter 2130 - 2131: Green Ripple Sect
Time ticked by second by second. Lin Chen stood there quietly, eyes slightly closed and utterly unmoving, as if even the fierce winds could not make him budge an inch."Look at others; even without a trace of Spiritual Energy, they can withstand this chill. But look at yourselves, with your bodies sheathed in Spiritual Energy, yet you don't dare stand for a moment longer."
Chen Lin cursed angrily on the deck. Many of the disciples shrank back, too afraid to utter a word.
"Bringing you out this time is to let you see the world. Otherwise, in a few years..." Chen Lin shook his head lightly.
Then he shifted his gaze to Lin Chen, his pupils showing a trace of expectation. He murmured in his heart, "If time permits, perhaps he could..."
As he thought so, Lin Chen was pondering how to increase his own strength.
...
After nearly a day of travel, the Spirit Boat finally glided to a halt before a mountain gate. When the Spirit Boat steadied, several figures on its helm breathed a sigh of relief, wiping sweat from their foreheads, wearied with fatigue.
Although it was only a day's time, they had traveled nearly ten thousand miles. Such a long distance could not be achieved with just a few disciples of lower cultivation alone. Even with rotating control of the Spirit Boat, fatigue was inevitable.
"Fuel certainly is more convenient," Lin Chen thought to himself.
"Young friend, this is the Green Ripple Sect."
After everyone disembarked, Chen Lin stored the Spirit Boat in his ring. With a sweep of his large hand, he pointed at the towering mountain gate, a hint of pride in his tone.
Lin Chen lifted his head and followed the direction of his gesture, seeing several bold characters carved above the gate: "Green Ripple Sect."
"Truly magnificent." Lin Chen marveled sincerely.
He then lowered his gaze, peering through the gate. He saw a broken cliff, a deep abyss beneath it, as black as ink.
Above the abyss, a suspension bridge stretched across, its thick ropes extending forward.
No matter how much Lin Chen strained his eyes, he could not make out the end of the chains.
"Haha, young friend, you can't see clearly from afar. The scene inside the gate can only be truly experienced up close," Chen Lin laughed.
"Mm." Lin Chen nodded, bewildered, sighing inwardly at the mysterious world, truly intriguing.
Lin Chen followed behind Chen Lin, crossing the gate to step onto the suspension bridge propped by iron chains. The many wooden planks laid beneath allowed them to walk across effortlessly.
As Lin Chen walked onto the bridge, he didn't gaze downward. Instead, his eyes roved from side to side, surveying his surroundings. Yet, strangely, it was as if a thin mist enveloped the area, obscuring the scenery into a vague blur.
Only in a few places did a chilling light penetrate, fixing on Lin Chen, causing him some discomfort.
After some time, Lin Chen followed Chen Lin to the opposite side. At that moment, he felt a sense of seeing the green mountain beyond the clouds and mist.
Here, it felt like an otherworldly village nestled within the mountain paths, houses arranged neatly amidst the dense foliage. Many youths slowly gathered here.
"Elder Chen."
As Lin Chen and the others approached, calls came from the youths. Chen Lin nodded with a smile, not lingering much, leading Lin Chen toward a deep and secluded path in the center.
"These are places where outer disciples reside. Only by reaching a certain level of strength or possessing extraordinary talent will one have the chance to walk the path we're on now," Chen Lin explained.
"Either you have talent, or you have perseverance."
Lin Chen nodded slightly, indicating his understanding. During his past cultivation, he had seen many who gave up halfway. Although talent is a vital part of cultivation, it is not everything.
Many with great perseverance, through their efforts, had pushed aside the talented, and such occurrences were not rare.
"It seems the young friend also understands that the path of cultivation allows no slackness."
Chen Lin looked at Lin Chen in some surprise, clearly not expecting someone seemingly so young to have such insight. But thinking about it, he soon understood that the strength of Lin Chen's physical body might have come from hard-earned efforts.
"Here we are."
They followed the path gradually upward, eventually stopping in front of a grand hall.
The hall stood a thousand feet high, perched atop the mountain peak, spilling radiant light. Lin Chen tilted his head slightly, finding the golden light dazzling and hard to look at directly.
"This is the main hall."
Chen Lin took out a token, presenting it to two soldiers clad in gilded armor, holding long spears. After they examined it carefully, they returned it to Chen Lin with a nod.
"Generally, new disciples are not allowed into the main hall. However, within the sect, there are still several elders. If they decide to admit you into the inner courtyard, it requires their consent," Chen Lin rubbed his forehead, evidently a bit troubled.
Lin Chen kept a calm face, his emotions unreadable. He glanced at Chen Lin meaningfully, suspecting Chen Lin might also be testing him.
Despite his remarkable performance throughout, the strength of his physical body was ultimately limited. Without cultivating Spiritual Energy, everything was futile.
"Oh, Old Chen, is this the young friend you've brought back?" As they reached the main hall, a charming young woman seated at the far end sauntered over.
She wore a slim red blouse, her hair pinned high. As she walked, her blouse fluttered, revealing snowy white skin between her lotus-like arms.
She walked to Lin Chen's side, looking him up and down, and remarked, "Looks rather robust."
"Oh, Li Qing, I've never seen you greet anyone so quickly before. This time I bring back a young friend, and you're so eager," Chen Lin raised an eyebrow, beneath his sword-like brows, harboring a trace of mild anger.
"Look at what you're saying. When have you returned to the main hall before? Do you expect me to find you in your small room?"
After she spoke, Li Qing rested her elbow on Chen Lin's shoulder, sliding her other hand down, brushing against Chen Lin's broad chest.
"Seductress!"
Both Chen Lin and Lin Chen cursed inwardly.
"Alright, enough fooling around. Come over, let Chen Lin tell us about his recent journey."
In the main hall, at an empty spot three feet above the ground, an elderly man with white hair and beard rose slowly and spoke.
Though his voice was gentle, it carried an indescribable force, prompting those present to put away their playful attitudes and take their seats.
Chen Lin, meanwhile, led Lin Chen forward, advancing to the center of the main hall.
