Chapter 60 Out of Control
Chapter 60 Out of Control
Flames spread wildly amidst the mountain of flammable materials. The door was slammed open, and the rats that rushed into the room squeaked and squeaked as they were scorched by the flames.
Standing on the second floor, Jiang Lin watched as thick smoke billowed out from the third-floor balcony, a look of panic flashing in his eyes for the first time.
Just as the flames were about to engulf the entire room, a figure leaped off the balcony at incredible speed, landed in the next room, grabbed the balcony railing, and vaulted down.
It looked dangerous, but for a man who was 1.9 meters tall and knew martial arts, it was no problem at all. In just a few breaths, he stood lightly in front of Jiang Lin.
"Huff—" Ji Xing gasped for breath; the thick smoke was really choking. Before he could even speak, he was suddenly slapped hard across the face.
The slap stunned the man; his left ear rang, and for a moment Ji Xing couldn't hear anything, only seeing the young man's dark, abyss-like eyes.
"When would I need you to risk your life to save me!"
Jiang Lin's voice became fierce for the first time.
With a slight tremor in his fingertips, almost the instant the words fell, Jiang Lin suddenly realized with a start that it was a witch!
The witch's power even affected him!
Jiang Lin looked at his palm, which was still slightly numb from exerting too much force. The last time his blood had boiled in his body was three years ago.
This means the witch's power has increased!
Could something have happened in the real world that caused the witch's powers to suddenly surge?
Jiang Lin looked up at Ji Xingyi again. There was a very obvious handprint on the man's face, and disbelief still lingered in his eyes.
“I don’t need you to take risks for me…” Jiang Lin looked at Ji Xingyi’s pitiful appearance and said softly in a low voice. However, before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by a sudden cry for help.
"Jiang Lin... Help... Jiang Lin..." The girl cried out the young man's name in anguish, as if her life was being threatened.
Jiang Lin's face darkened, and he immediately rushed down the corridor. Ji Xingyi watched the young man's hurried figure, his eyes widening.
"Xuehui!" Jiang Lin shouted loudly, searching everywhere for the girl.
Ding Xuehui rushed out of the restaurant, the girl covered in blood, and burst into tears of joy the moment she saw Jiang Lin.
"Jiang Lin!"
When Ji Xingyi saw Ding Xuehui rush into Jiang Lin's arms, he didn't even have time to be angry, because a woman holding a sharp knife was following closely behind the girl, and the gleaming blade was already stabbing towards the two of them!
In that critical moment, Jiang Lin surprisingly chose to protect the girl behind him!
*Thud*—The blade grazed Jiang Lin's arm. Before the second stab could land, Ji Xingyi, who had arrived late, immediately raised her hand to block the attacker's arm, grabbed the woman's wrist, twisted it, and pressed her against the wall.
He snatched the knife with his right hand and, without thinking, slashed it forcefully towards the woman's neck.
After his carotid artery ruptured and blood splattered into Ji Xingyi's eyes, he finally recognized the attacker as Zheng Lu.
"Ah—" Ding Xuehui screamed in Jiang Lin's arms. Compared to Zheng Lu, the man covered in blood in front of her terrified her even more.
Ji Xingyi wanted to check on Jiang Lin's arm injury, but then realized that her hands were covered in the blood of a dead man.
"Don't come any closer!" Ding Xuehui hurriedly pulled the young man back, looking at him as if he were a monster.
Ji Xing didn't even glance at Ding Xuehui. He looked nervously at Jiang Lin, wondering if his behavior had frightened the young man.
Ji Xingyi hurriedly wiped the back of his hands and palms, but there was too much blood splattered on his body, and he couldn't clean it off in a short time.
"Ji Xingyi, don't come any closer, you'll hurt Jiang Lin!" Ding Xuehui stood in front of Jiang Lin with a pale face but a stubborn look in her eyes, like a plum blossom that braves the snow and frost, refusing to bow down to evil.
Ji Xingyi tried hard to suppress his rising anger; he didn't want to expose his brutal side in front of Jiang Lin.
Seeing Ji Xingyi approaching, Ding Xuehui quickly raised her hand to stop him: "Don't go near Jiang Lin!"
"Get out of my way!" Ji Xingyi roared, grabbing the girl's shoulder and throwing her away.
"Ah—" Ding Xuehui screamed as blood flowed from her forehead as it hit the wall.
"Enough!" Jiang Lin coldly stopped the man's steps, and under the man's shocked gaze, she carefully helped the girl up.
"Xuehui, are you alright?" Jiang Lin carefully examined the wound on the girl's forehead, his anxiety evident in his eyes.
"Jiang Lin," blood trickled down the girl's brow bone to the bridge of her nose as she sobbed softly, "it hurts so much."
Jiang Lin looked at the girl in his arms with increasing pity, but when he looked up at Ji Xingyi, his gaze was colder than ever before: "Do you know what you're doing?"
Ji Xingyi felt as if invisible hands were gripping her neck, preventing air from entering her chest cavity, and her blood seemed to have stopped flowing.
Just an hour ago, the young man was still in his arms, his lips still remembered the warmth of the young man's palm, and his ears still lingered with the young man's breath. Why was Jiang Lin looking at him like this now?
A sharp, needle-like pain shot through my heart, and my eyes stung with tears.
"I... just wanted to see your injury." The hoarse voice carried a hint of grievance.
"I hope you can control your emotions." Jiang Lin supported the girl, handling her as carefully as if she were a fragile piece of porcelain.
Ji Xingyi caught Ding Xuehui's furtive, provocative glance and couldn't help but recall the words, "I like him, and Jiang Lin likes me too." Her anger surged again, and she brazenly lit a cigarette in front of Jiang Lin.
"That's just my temper. You're in my arms every night, don't you know that?"
"Ji Xingyi!" Jiang Lin's tone was as cold and hard as stone: "Do you know what you're saying?"
"Which word I said was wrong?" Ji Xingyi ignored Jiang Lin for the first time and provoked Ding Xuehui while puffing on a cigarette: "You like him, but he sleeps with me every day."
Seeing Ding Xuehui's face gradually turn pale, Ji Xingyi became increasingly reckless in his speech, as if only in this way could he vent the anger and bitterness that filled his blood.
Have you ever smelled Jiang Lin's scent?
Do you know which position Jiang Lin likes to use?
"Snapped!"
The pain in his cheek stunned Ji Xingyi.
The most terrifying aspect of a witch is her subtle and pervasive influence. She probes into the depths of everyone's soul, and if she discovers even the slightest crack, she will forcibly tear it open with her magical hands, turning it into a hideous and fatal wound.
Even if you know, so what?
The witch merely amplified the desires deep within the human soul.
Desire originates from human beings themselves.
